Tools of the craft
Archaeologists dig where they think they'll find more artifacts. There are 6 kinds of things archaeologists look for: art, fossils, pottery, tools, sculptures, written records. Archaeologists consider these factors about a dig site : terrain, closeness to water, and the soil.Archaeologists work in difficult climates extreme heat like savannas and down pores. The archaeologists of the past where more like explorers than scientists. They where reckless and thieves now, they are more careful. They use trowels so they don't break anything.
Archaeologists as detectives
Archaeologists have changed over the years. In the past they where thieves and all they cared about was the glory and the value. Also they were reckless and they were more like explorers back then. Now they are more like scientists. They are not reckless and they don't care about the glory. They also use special technology. They use satellite imagery. Archaeologists are also like detectives because they investigate clues left behind to piece together a story.
Early Hominini
Lucy is one of the first hominin. She is an Australopithecus. She was also bipedal. Homo habilis on the other hand is a toolmaker. He is the first hominin to make tools. He lived about 2 million to 1.5 million years ago. Homo erectus is the runner. His name means running man. He made fire and cooked meat. Homo sapiens are the modern humans. His name means wise man. Their brain is the biggest. We migrated out of Africa because of the ice age. They are the cave painters. They have more cultures than any other hominini.
