COUNSELING AWARENESS
Counseling Awareness Month is celebrated in April every year. It’s a month-long observance of raising awareness and promoting mental health to people of all ages. It also highlights the importance of counseling professionals — from mental health counselors, school and college counselors, substance abuse counselors, to career counselors. It’s the time when their contributions, not only to the healthcare sector but also to society in general, are honored. This celebration also aims to remove the stigma of seeking help for mental illnesses.
STRESS AWARENESS
Stress and poor mental health are one of the biggest public health challenges that we’re facing. Sadly, we are still not taking its impact seriously enough. We continue to separate mental health from physical health and vice versa. The reality is they are two sides of the same coin. There is no health without mental health and stress can lead to numerous health problems. From physical problems, like heart disease, insomnia, digestive issues, immune system challenges, to more serious mental health disorders such as anxiety and depression.
