Shark "Shout Outs" (SSO's) - MRHS's way of Appreciating the Great People here!
Shark Shout Outs are spreading fast & furious at MRHS. We start every staff meeting with Shout Outs to colleagues and Shout Out to students nominated for student of the month during am announcements. Now, students and Parents are welcome to send in a Shark Shout Out as a token of appreciating other students and staff in the school. Email Mr. Burkhead at bburkhead@monomoy.edu, or drop them off to Ms. Hooper in the main office! The enthusiasm is contagious!
As graduation approaches, we wanted to thank some wonderful staff members who have played an enormous role in our daughter, Kristen’s, four years of high school. First, we are so thankful for her guidance counselor, Mr. Bennett, for all of the years of unwavering support and guidance. Thank you Ms. Richard and Mr. Smeltzer, you taught her for all four years; she would not be the musician or student that she is now without your influence! Thank you Mrs. Terrenzi for always being available, before, during and after school to discuss math, and anything else! Ms. Kelly, thank you for supporting Kristen’s passion for English and Creative Writing for so many years. Finally, thank you to all of the teachers and staff for all the extra time you put into AP study groups, writing numerous recommendations, and for always being available and supportive.
Sincerely,
Tracie and Ron Siegel
Shark Shout Out to Rachel Barnes for bringing Shakespeare Now Theatre Company to our students to watch a live and riveting performance of Romeo and Juliet. What a great way to make Shakespeare come alive for our student body. So sad to see it end..."parting is such sweet sorrow."
Bob Smeltzer
Shark Shout Out to John Herring, Adam Rose and Lisa Barbato for being flexible and finding a solution to filling in for driving our ALP kids to work while Peter is at the Senior Beach Day - they embody the idea that Monomoy is one community!

Hello Everyone-
Thanks to the loving support you've been giving this program, there were almost 40 kids at Monday's yoga class including lots of athletes. They had to move it into the gym from the OT room!!! Can't tell you how thrilled I am that the kids are loving this healthy, fun and self-affirming practice! How amazing. Here's sending good wishes that it continues to be popular until the final class on June 16th!!!
Sheila House
To Katie Kelly for coming up with some terrific suggestions to name our ALP program - they will add class and purpose to our group - we will let the kids help decide which one will be the winner!

Check out the sensational Raku pottery exhibit in the case by the library-the students are so gifted!! I love that pig, and from what I understand so do many other faculty members. A huge shark out should go to Carol Trull and her Raku students, truly it's worth seeing,

Grace Fernandes Honored
Ms. Chilaka attended the Cape Cod Branch of the NAACP Awards night and the featured speaker of the evening was Dr. Charles Williams, a retired administrator and educator from the New Haven , CT public schools.

Photo 2 (middle): Grace is posing with Rev. Dr. David Purdy and Mrs. Pam Chatterdon Purdy of HarwichPort. The Purdy's are very well known in the circles of Human and Civil Rights Issues. This year they donated a wonderful new book that they have written to the Monomoy Regional High School dealing with civil rights issues. The book is called "Icons of the Civil Rights Movement: Dispelling White Privilege." The documented stories and art work are amazing.

Summer Reading 2.0
Our student and staff book selections for our new summer reading program are in, and we have a great collection of 36 titles to pick from on our Summer Reading LibGuide! We are asking our students to take some time looking over the titles to pick the book that is right for them and to select a first choice and an alternate title. Our goal is to have everyone signed up next week, so Ms. Wheaton has time to order the books and get them into our students’ hands before leaving for the summer.
Please Support the Cape Cod Health Care Blood Drive
Monday - 5/ 23pm in the MRHS cafeteria
3pm - 7pm
Free pizza and DD gift cards will be given out to the donors.
Challenge this years senior class to bring in the most donors . It is the kick off to the summer season and we need your blood. All blood is kept on Cape.
