Here's Our Path note for this week. Thank you for all you do for our learners!

Our Path Note Topic
Saturday, October 8, 2022 is National Custodian Day. It is so easy to forget that the lights are usually on when we enter a building, our sidewalks are usually kept snow free in the winter, the heat or AC is on when we arrive. These are only a few of the countless things that our custodians and maintenance people do on a daily basis that we take for granted.
Given all they do for us, it seems appropriate to dedicate a Path Note to say thank you to our custodians and maintenance people. Without them, our jobs are not as convenient or pleasant.
When you see your building's custodians and district maintenance people next week, say thank you. Many of these critical people have spent years serving WASD, and deserve a day for recognition.
Thank you to all of our custodians and maintenance folks. We appreciate all you do for the district, for us as employees, and, most importantly, for the students. You are a vital part of educating our young people.
Thank you!

Teacher Advisory
One teacher per school building is the representative at the meetings. If more than one person volunteers in one building, the names are put in a basket, and Jane Helman will pick the name as she has in the past. Maybe she'll be willing to do it again!
The meetings are one time per month, and start about 3:45 to 4PM and go until 5PM. Although it is only an advisory, many suggestions and recommendations have come to fruition due to the advisory. It is also a great way to learn how some things work that you didn't realize.
If you are interested, please email Tod. We hope to start the first meeting by the end of September.
Thanks!
Piece of the Puzzle
This Week's Piece of the Puzzle is Christel Ruzicka. Christel has made her 9th grade students feel welcome and "at home" in her room. She makes every assignment interesting and gets the kids engaged in each lesson. Her students know that they can go to her for support and that her "door is always open". She comes to school each day with a positive attitutde and the willingness to help her students and coworkers. She truly makes a difference in her classroom!
If you see Christel Ruzicka today, congratulate her for being this week's Piece of the Puzzle!
New Policies
Suggested revisions and new policies come from the PA School Board Association, board members, staff, administration, and others. The proposed policy goes to the Policy Committee for review. The Policy Committee will either approve the proposed policy to go to full board for review and adoption, or will deny or wait for a different time to revisit it.
Even though it will not be weekly, stay tuned for any new and/or recently adopted policies in this section.
Moving First Choice Ahead--Share with Tod
This is a recognition of those that share lessons and activities being done in or out of the classroom that demonstrate the use of newly promoted WASD professionally developed strategies and other activities that support First Choice. Those activities can be in any Pillar--Academic, Whole Child, Career and/or Innovation.
If you have something to share. Email it to Tod!
