Principal's Update

Monday 8/24/2020

Dear Families,

We had a very successful launch of our 1st-5th first two days of school. Tuesday August 25, 2020 will be our first Pre-school and Kindergarten Day. I always am happiest when our whole school is with us – in person or virtually. I really look forward visiting Zoom class meetings much like I do during non-pandemic times.


Whole class zooms begin tomorrow, August 25th. Tomorrow I will send out the official Zoom Schedule. I did not include the links or passwords for safety of our children. If you are unsure of the link, please contact the teacher again. Teachers will be scheduling whole class times, small group times and posting office hours for families to connect with specific questions.

I share this analogy about our virtual platforms;
• Clever is like our classroom door. Children enter once to access their learning tools.
• Canvas is like our classroom. Children get assignments and materials here.
• Zoom is like group work. It is here so that children can ask questions, share, discuss, and visit with each other.

Routines are important for e-learning. We are all establishing them these first days of school. Please let me know if you have questions about how we can help you meet your needs. We are flexible and I am certain we can help you as we work together.

Special Education, is actively contacting families individually to set up a continuous learning plan for high, medium, and low risk settings.


Attendance will be taken via student engagement in assignments and lessons. This could be via live sessions or recorded session and turning in student work via Canvas. Contact your teacher or me if you have questions.

In early September we will be starting a weekly materials distribution. Materials might include the following: Math pages, reading worksheets, handwriting books, library books and more. Please be on the look out for more information on this.

Student Nutrition has started twice-weekly pick-up. Distributions are Monday and Wednesdays 10-2. Meals are ‘take and bake’ or shelf-stable. You will need to pre-order for the following week. Detailed information is at this ASD website: Click Here

If you have questions about devices or Wi-Fi delivery, please call Jessi or Jessica at 742-1400. They can let you know if you are on the list. Devices continue to be delivered via our school bus system. Wi-Fi is being mailed through USPS. Please do not stress about being unable to access school immediately if you do not have a device or connectivity.
