Webster Weekly
DANIEL WEBSTER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL - PASADENA, CA
Week of October 8, 2023

Principal's Message
Good evening, Webster families.
This week we are celebrating Hispanic Heritage at Webster! Each day, students will be learning facts about innovators and contributors of Hispanic heritage. The student council Hispanic Heritage committee will have arts and crafts for students to create during their lunch recess along with playing a variety of music for our students' enjoyment. On Thursday, students and staff are encouraged to wear clothing that represents their Hispanic heritage.
We are very excited to welcome Ms. Barajas to Webster. She is joining as our Kindergarten/1st grade teacher. We would like to give a huge shout out to Ms. Jessie. She is a wonderful person and teacher.
We had an incredible turn out at our ELAC meeting last Thursday. Thank you to all parents who joined us and to those who committed to being on our ELAC Board.
We wish our 2023-2024 Webster Student Council congratulations! Many of our 4th and 5th graders interviewed for positions on the student council. They all demonstrated courage, leadership, and school spirit.
The winners of the Webster Penny Wars are:
1st place : 4th grade - 17,589 points
2nd place: 3rd grade - 5995 points
3rd place: 2nd grade - 2789 points
4th place: 1st grade - 1338 points
5th place: Kinder - 377 points
6th place: TK - -1266 points
7th place: 5th grade - -3553 points
Please remember that we love to recognize students' birthdays. They may come to the office during their recess or lunch to receive a birthday pencil. However, the classroom is not the venue for birthday parties. We must adhere to the district wellness policy that sugary treats such as cupcakes are not to be brought to the classroom to be distributed during the school day. Additionally, many parents do not give permission for their children to have these kinds of foods.

Tax Deductible Giving through Webster's Annual Fund
Daniel Webster Elementary School has been honored as a California Distinguished School. Great teachers, strong leadership, and parent involvement make Daniel Webster a great school to send our children.
In addition to the great education our students receive, they are also provided with various opportunities to participate in our music and arts activities. We're asking for your support to continue this legacy by donating to the Daniel Webster Annual Fund and help us reach our goal of $50,000.
These funds will be used to financially support our music and arts programs, to update our playground activities, and to support the instructional goals set forth by the School Site Council
We would like to see every family donate at least $1.00 per week ($50 for the school year) for each child they have enrolled at Daniel Webster.
Think of it as donating less than the cost of a weekly cup of coffee or soft drink to help ensure that your child receives a high quality education.
If you can donate more, we would encourage you to donate towards our Giving Tree. We have various levels of donations:
Bronze - $100
Silver - $200
Gold - $300
VIP - $500 or more
If you are not able to contribute financially please consider donating your time and talents.
To donate:

If you are making matching gifts through an employer, please let them know that they must provide PEF's information to their employer in order for us to confirm their gift.
