Front Drive Reminders

Please remember that the front drive is not a drop-off location at any point during the day, especially from 7:30-7:45. We have two drop-off locations located on Travis Drive (starting at 7:10 am) and Civic Drive (starting at 7:30 am). If you would like to use the front drive for morning drop-off, you must park in a parking spot or along Dawn Drive and walk your child to his or her classroom.

Please help us keep parents and students safe in the morning, by not dropping off in the front.

Thank you for your help!

Apex Fun Run Information in Friday folders

We are two weeks away from our kick-off pep rally at 1:15 pm in the cafeteria! A letter is going home today in Friday folders with more information about the program, and how your child can raise money for our school. Pledge kits will be sent home in the coming weeks. This year's Leadership theme is GAME ON, so students will learn more on how to be a great leader during their leadership lessons later this month.

Our Fun Run will take place on Thursday, November 21st during your child's specials time. We will need volunteers, so be on the lookout on how to sign up!

Thanksgiving Lunches

Our annual Thanksgiving lunch will be held on November 21st and 22nd. Reservation forms will be going home soon.

Here is the schedule and lunch times for both days:

  • Thursday, November 21st: Kindergarten (11:00), 2nd (11:40)
  • Friday, November 22nd: PPCD and PK (10:45); 1st (11:10) and 3rd (12:00)

Please call Christine at 267-8300 X4500 before Thursday, November 21st to have your visitor’s badge pre-printed. You can also email your request to christine_harris@lagovista.txed.net. All visitors will still need to be buzzed in before entering the main building. Please plan on arriving earlier than your child’s lunch time, as parking is limited and there will be a line at the Raptor computer.

Counselor's Corner

Hello LVES Families! This has been a fun month of learning about Respect and Red Ribbon Week! Our Red Ribbon Week activities are meant to be fun reminders for students to respect themselves and make good choices. At the young elementary level we mainly focus on understanding that there is a difference between good and bad drugs, making positive choices, and doing your best to have self-respect by taking good care of ourselves. Students also signed our No Place for Hate Resolution of Respect, which states, “I promise to do my best to treat everyone fairly; I promise to do my best to be kind to everyone--even if they are not like me; If I see someone being hurt or bullied I will report it to an adult; Everyone at school should be able to feel safe and happy at school; and I want our school to be No Place for Hate.”

Thank you for supporting our efforts to encourage all students to respect themselves and others!

Perhaps the surest test of an individual's integrity is his refusal to do or say anything that would damage his self-respect.” ~Thomas S. Monson

~Thomas S. Monson
