A Letter from the Principal
Dear Elementary Parents & Guardians,
I hope this letter finds you well. Based on the results of last week’s survey, we have found that parents expressed a wide range of needs and preferred delivery methods of remote instruction. Some parents asked for more work, while others said their children had enough; most students were highly engaged in online learning, while others struggled to get online; most found the Zoom meetings valuable, while others could not make them as scheduled. As a result of the feedback, we are trying to meet the needs of all while being consistent, equitable, efficient, and effective.
Next week, we will be sharing different ways to access student learning materials and resources. Teachers will continue to email you every day so that you can be sure to know what is expected of your children each day. As part of our shifts in remote learning, we are also adding a digital platform called Google Classroom where you will be able to access your child’s lessons and assignments for the week, giving you a preview of what is expected and due by the end of the week.
We understand that the Google Classroom platform may be very new to you, and we want to provide you with as much information as possible as we all become more comfortable with it. At some point this weekend, you will receive a digital “Beginner’s Guide to Google Classroom.” On Monday morning, hard copy packets of student work and the Beginner’s Guide will be distributed with school lunches. For families who do not receive lunches, your packets will be mailed to you.
We have standardized our classroom Zoom meeting times by grade level, and we hope you will make every effort for your child to attend. The meeting start times are:
Grade K: 10 am
Grade 1: 9 am
Grade 2: 11 am
Grade 3: 12:30pm
Grade 4: 1:00 pm
Just a reminder that Fridays will be our “Flex Days” where students will be able to complete unfinished work and do additional enrichment at your leisure.
Finally, please know that our teachers are here to support you. If your child is struggling with the lessons provided, or you are struggling to support your child(ren), please contact the classroom teacher. Teachers may set up small group or individual instruction to support your child.
Wishing you all a restful and relaxing weekend,
Stephanie
