Rebecca Clarke | Principal

Dear parents and caregivers,

Welcome to Spring!! The weather has certainly turned this week and we have all enjoyed the sunshine! At the beginning of the term, I mentioned to my staff that Term 3 is always a busy term and it has not disappointed.

The Sacrament of First Holy Communion is one of my favourite sacraments as it adds another layer for our students on their spiritual journey. The masses on the weekend were lovely and the students all looked reverent and holy. Thank you to Mrs Curtis for preparing the students so well.

A big thank you to the P&F for a wonderful Father’s Day Morning. It was wonderful to see so many dads, grandfathers and father figures at school for the early morning sausage roll and coffee. I really enjoyed watching the dads and grandfathers talking, laughing and interacting with their children and hearing comments along the lines of ‘that was the best morning ever’ was magical.

Next week is National Child Protection Week with the theme ‘Every child in every community needs a fair go. I encourage all families to spend some time with your children to review the Student Code of Conduct and discuss the importance of feeling safe and secure. There are also some great resources available from the Archdiocese that families may find useful, one was co-authored by our Social Worker, Mrs O’Malley. Please use the links below to access these resources.

Next Wednesday is our Faction Sports Carnival. There is nothing better than a colourful sports carnival with lots of cheering and participation. Please adhere to the guidelines for the carnival, outlined below. Thank you to Mrs Clarkson for organising this big event. The carnival will commence at 9am.

I would like to inform the school community that our Social Worker, Mrs Justine O’Malley, has made the decision to resign from her position at St Elizabeth’s with her last day with students on Wednesday, September 21. I take this opportunity to thank her for her dedication to our school over the past two years and wish her all the best as she pursues a career as a university lecturer. For Term 4, all pastoral care for students will be referred to myself and Mrs Emma Fernandez.

Finally, wishing all our fathers, heavenly fathers, grandfathers and father figure a lovely Father’s Day for Sunday. I hope you are thoroughly spoilt by your family in every way!

God bless

Catholic School Parents Australia Survey- we need to hear from you!

As you may have seen in our recent newsletter, and on our Facebook page, Catholic School Parents Australia (CSPA) is conducting a survey to capture parent perspectives on issues of concern that impact their children’s health, wellbeing and learning, to help inform future federal government policy and the Catholic education community. Has your child’s wellbeing or learning been impacted by the pandemic, your home-school partnership or simply by where you live? I urge you to take the time to complete the survey, especially if you feel that the past couple of years have been difficult for your family. If we keep silent on these things it is likely the presumption will be that we are all okay.

The survey can be accessed via: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2022CSPAParentSurvey and closes at the end of August. Your feedback will remain anonymous, but will assist CSPA in reporting to the Federal Government and Catholic education.

Regards,
Siobhan Allen
Executive Director
