Nixa Receives 100% on Bus Inspections, Continuing Record for 25th Year
Nixa's Transportation Department was recognized for receiving a 100% on their state inspection for all buses from the Missouri Highway Patrol for the 25th year in a row. This 100% is also on the first inspection, meaning they had nothing that needed to be corrected in order to obtain the 100%.
This is a feat no one else in the state has achieved and a record the department has held for at least 5 years.
"Students and driver's safety is top priority for our department. The transportation department must take all measures to ensure a safe bus which include completing a pre-trip inspection and looking for defects. When a defect is found, the driver notifies the mechanic for repair. Establishing a preventive maintenance program is very essential to maintaining a safe bus," stated Donna Collins, transportation director.

Back to School Bash | Sign Up Ends: Friday, June 10
The Back to School Bash was created to provide our Nixa families with a little extra support before they start school. The event will supply each student with a backpack, hygiene supplies, basic school supplies (based on the student's grade level), a new pair of shoes, and additional resources.
Need Help Getting School Supplies for Next Year?
The only requirement is to be a Nixa Public Schools student who needs assistance. There are no income requirements or other restrictions. We will also provide connections to other services to make sure you are supported throughout the school year.
Can You Buy A Child A Pair of Shoes?
It may be difficult to understand the impact that one can bring to a child through a random act of kindness. We are calling for the community to rally around our annual Back to School Bash. This event provides hundreds of Nixa students with specific school supplies and essential items they need.
Your $15 donation will cover one pair of shoes for a student in need. Please choose the number of pairs of shoes that you would like to donate.
Drones & Nixa Schools
With the popularity of drones, we wanted to remind everyone that flying drones over school property or launching them from school property is prohibited without approval from the district. We have to guard the privacy rights of our students as well as their safety. Please refrain from any flights over our schools without specific permission from the district.
To be considered for that permission, you must email quicknews@nixaschools.net. Those requesting to fly over or launch from district property will need to produce your FAA license to operate a drone or other UAV and have the appropriate liability insurance.
