Summer Voluntary Opportunity in India with Rotaract St Andrews
Rotaract Club of St Andrews, student branch of Rotary International, and formally affiliated with the Students' Union.
Seeking a student volunteer intern to work on their India project during the summer months.
The Rotaract Club of St Andrews is offering a 2-week long internship for a current student of the University of St Andrews to teach at a school for abandoned girls in Meerut, India. This school works to educate 70 abandoned girls aged 5 to 18. The school helps them develop and grow, and currently accomplishes that with just two teachers. These teachers devote their hearts and souls to this young generation. What they desperately need, however, is a little bit of help.
What we need is someone with working knowledge of Hindi. No prior teaching experience or qualifications are required. You will help teach basic maths, English and simple computer skills, such as typing. Even though it is a school for girls, it is perfectly acceptable for men to teach.
What we offer is offsite accommodation and all travel, including return airfare, will be provided.
We realise that this can be a daunting challenge, but we’ll be behind you every step of the way. Many of us have visited the school before, and we are keen to share our experiences with you.
If you’re interested, or just want to find out more please get in touch with Rotaract St Andrews via email (standrewsrotaract@gmail.com) or Facebook (@RotaractStA)
Alternatively, come along to one of our meetings, which occur every Wednesday at 7 pm at the Scores Hotel.
