K/1 Multiage, Wednesday April 15
Morning Message from your Teachers
Happy Wednesday, K/1 Friends. It is Wednesday, April 15th, 2020. It is the 137th day of school. What kinds of facts have you read and write about this week in your Animal Report? Don’t forget to reread your work from Monday and Tuesday before you continue to add more today. Writers reread their work often. Have a great day.
Love,
Mrs. Boyer, Ms. Buckley, and Mrs. Feistel
Morning Message
Dear Super Scientists,
Congratulations! I hereby dub thee official Ecologists of the Victor Primary School. An ecologist is a scientist who studies ecosystems or how plants and animals work together in an environment. Let’s get started! This morning, go outside and find a flower. Look at it. Smell it. Carefully touch it. What can you observe about it? Use all the senses you can to describe the flower you’ve chosen.
Every time you see something new, put your scientist’s goggles on to look at the object in a new way!
Literacy
Description of Work:
We have new websites to help you find information for your animal report. Continue to spend 15-20 minutes on researching your animal. These new sites may or may not have information on your animal but they are fun sites to explore!
Files and Resources Needed:
Try drawing or including pictures in your non-fiction report. This might be interesting information to include:
What does it sound like
What kind of home does it make
What do they babies look like
Fun facts
I bet you have other ideas too!
Word Work/Vocabulary
This week you will continue to work on sight words. You will also be learning about syllables and compound words. Watch the compound words video, to learn about compound words before you start those activities this week. Have fun.
Choose 1 choice each day this week from the list below to practice compound words and syllables. Youngers may want to start with the syllable practice and then try a challenge later in the week with compound words.
Syllable Games
Compound Word Games
Sight Word Practice:
· Pick 5 new words each day this week and practice them (just like last week). There are new activities to choose from this week. Pick your words from your word wall chart or words your family wants you to practice. Choose a new way to practice each day:
· Make lego words
· Use magnetic letters
· Build them with twigs or lincoln logs
· Build them with playdough
· Use an easel to spell them
· Write your words with chalk outside
IT'S BRAIN BREAK TIME!!!
Math
Dear Mathematicians,
I have another problem for you to solve before you choose your games for today. I had 10 cookies, but my sister wanted me to share some with her. I gave her 4. How many do I have left?
Today, choose a game from the list. Maybe try one you haven’t tried before! Have fun, and don’t forget to share some of your math work with your teacher :)
