Family Service Project @ Feed My Starving Children
Our Home and School Association has reserved 2 dates in April to pack meals at Feed My Starving Children (FMSC). All are welcome to participate in this service project! This is an optional event in which you can join other StMCS families in doing good for others.
As Lent draws near, it is a great time to think about how we can come together and share of ourselves with others. FMSC is a Christian non-profit organization called to feed God’s starving children. Volunteering at FMSC gives you the chance to hand-pack nutritious meals specifically formulated for malnourished children. At the completion of your 2-hour shift, you will have packed meals that will benefit hundreds of hungry children around the world.
For safety reasons, FMSC does not allow children under the age of 5 to participate in packing sessions. FMSC also requires the following adult to child ratios for reserved group sessions: Gr. K-2: one child to one adult; Grade 3-6: three children to one adult; and Grade 7-8: four children to one adult.
The dates reserved under St. Michael Catholic School at FMSC, 401 93rd Ave NW, Coon Rapids, are on:

Crazy Minnesota Weather
Yesterday was a difficult decision for the district about whether or not to close early. While the road conditions were challenging, it is very worrisome to send young children home on busses when their parents may be at work and not able to get home before them. Please know all decisions are made with the utmost care for student safety first. I met directly with the district superintendent and principals yesterday and am in the first ring of district communication when decisions are made.
We appreciate your patience in awaiting our postings, emails, or media announcements. Generally speaking, if you have not heard from us, there has not been a change in schedule. We are committed to communicating to you as quickly as possible when we are informed of changes.
Today's decision to stay with a late start as neighboring districts opted to close was also challenging. Typically, when late starts occur, students who are kept home for the full day with "weather" as the reason are marked unexcused. Today is an exception due to the unprecedented conditions, and also because some of our families live in the districts that were actually closed.
Prayers for all of you as you are out and about ~ may you be safe always!
