Hilltop Herald - Parent Edition

Be Respectful ~ Be Responsible ~ Be Resilient

Volume 1 ~ Issue 3 ~ August 1, 2022

Fabulous Falcon Families,

“I’m not concerned with your liking or disliking me… All I ask is that you respect me as a human being.” ~Jackie Robinson~

It is with a grateful heart that I congratulate our students on representing our mantra this week. Most of you did a great job of making sure that you displayed respectful, responsible and resilient behaviors. Thank you. For the few of you who did not, this week is a new start for you to demonstrate the Falcon Mantra. I want you to succeed but I cannot do the behaving for you. Choose this week to be the week you display your new and improved behaviors.

Cell Phone Policy Reminder

While most of you have followed our cell phone policy, some of you have not. The negative behaviors I mentioned in my introduction were all connected to violating our cell phone policy, which have resulted in loss of cell phone privileges. Students, do not allow a small device to control you. If your parents need to contact you, they will call the main office. There is no need for you to have your cell phones out. I expect that all of you will adhere to this policy this week.

Schedule A and B This Week

Starting this week, our regular schedule A (Mon-Thursday) and Schedule B (Friday) begin. Start time is 8:05 am in the morning and End time is 3:05pm for Schedule A. Schedule B starts at 8:05am and ends at 1:45pm. Period 0 for Schedule A begins at 7:13am and 7:19am for Schedule B.

Registration and Immunization Verification has been extended

Parents, if you have not provided proof of residency and/or immunization, you have received an extension to submit until August 26, 2022. After that, if your child is still missing the required documentation, they will be dropped from our enrollment. Please take time to complete this process.

Assistant Principal Expectation Presentation

Students, your assistant principals will be conducting an expectation presentation in your PE Classes. August 1, 2022 will be geared for 7th graders and August 2, 2022 will be geared for 8th graders. Falcons, in doing this, we will know that you have been taught what it means to be a Falcon and all the expectation that comes with it.

Fall Sports is about ready to begin. We want to make sure that your child is ready to participate day 1. Three things you must do:

  2. Register your child as an athlete on registermyathlete.com. Without registering your child cannot play.

Your child must test weekly for outdoor sports and twice weekly for indoor sports. Click HERE to sign up for this program. Students, if you test positive for COVID, click HERE to determine which scenario fits your situation. Once you have identified the correct scenario for you, please follow all safety protocols that go with the scenario.

For classwork, you will be placed on independent study. Please contact the attendance office to report the absence or email our assistant principal secretary, Ms. Garcia at patricia.garcia2@sweetwaterschools.org. It is important that once Ms. Garcia sends you the independent study form, you sign it immediately.

At this time, teachers are NOT required to host a virtual synchronous session during her in-person instruction. This is being negotiated with the teachers union right now.

Weekly COVID testing is mandatory for all athletes and extracurricular activities. If you have not done so already, please sign up with SDSU-NIH Testing program [Click HERE] or you will have to provide test results from your healthcare provider or other verified health organizations.
