From the Principal's Desk...
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Have you heard about our upcoming St. John the Baptist School Spectacular? Over the last month, we have been posting on Social Media and in our newsletter about our largest fundraiser of the year. I encourage all families to consider supporting this event, as all the profits go directly to our school. It is a wonderful night with dinner, drinks, and dancing while showcasing the amazing things that are happening here at St. John the Baptist. If you can’t attend, please consider signing up on GiveSmart in order to purchase raffle tickets, or bid on one of our fabulous silent auction items at stjohnschool3.givesmart.com. We are still accepting sponsorships, donations, and volunteers for the event. Please contact Laura Heidorn in the school office with questions of how you can support this fundraiser, and if you see our posts on Social Media, please “Like” and “Share” them so that we can reach as many people as possible.
As we start to prepare for our January Open House, we are looking for input from our families. Please see below for a link to a short survey. The responses will be used in our promotional materials. It is never too early to start recruiting new students to join our Blue Jay Family. If you know of anyone who is interested in learning more about St. John’s, please direct them to me.
Thanks to the office staff, the Foresters, and all those families who attended the Trunk or Treat last weekend. I am so sad that I had to miss all the students dressed up in their Halloween costumes, but glad our families had a great night.
I hope everyone has a great rest of your week!
Sincerely,
Courtney Weinheimer

Tony's Fight - November 19
Tony’s Fight Foundation is looking for students in grades 3-8 to play in their sixth annual youth 3v3 basketball fundraiser at LaSalle High School on November 19, 2022. This tournament began as a benefit supporting Tony Even and his family in March 2017. In October 2016 Tony was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma stage 3ES with Vanishing Bile Duct Syndrome, followed by a Renal Cell Carcinoma diagnoses in February 2017. In March 2017 friends and family rallied around them, hosting a 3v3 basketball tournament to show support and help with the medical expenses that come with a cancer diagnosis. After Tony’s test results were clear and Tony, his wife Beth, and their 4 children settled into their new normal, they decided they would like to pay it forward by continuing the tournament. Together with the help from the original tournament committee, they have officially become a 501(c)3 non-profit. Tony’s Fight Foundation was started to help families from west side catholic parishes who have children in area catholic schools with a family member fighting a life threatening illness.
If your student is interested in playing in the tournament, please see attached registration form and link to the eventbrite registration site…

St. Xavier
Xperience Nights
St. Xavier High School hosts an Xperience Night on October 26th. Your school and all 7th & 8th grade families will receive an invitation to attend. The evening begins in our Chapel of the Holy Companions at 6:30 p.m. and concludes at 8 p.m. Parents will hear a presentation about the mission of St. Xavier from a current student, the parent of a current student, faculty member, and an admissions representative – with ample time for questions and answers afterward. Students will learn about St. X by engaging in experiential learning opportunities that will be directed by current St. X students. Your students will also have the chance to have their questions answered. Families have found these nights to be an opportunity to receive in-depth information and hear different perspectives. Parents and faculty often can give a more “on the ground” view of the school. We ask that families register in advance.
Open House
On Sunday, November 13 from 1 to 4 p.m. prospective students and families are invited to attend our annual Open House. Tours are given by current students, allowing families time to speak with teachers, co-curricular moderators, and students about their experiences.

Shadowing is an integral role in a student’s decision making process. The shadowing program runs from September through December and provides interested eighth grade students with a firsthand experience on campus. Prospective students will be hosted by an Ambassador of Excellence, a freshmen or sophomore qualified to speak on the various aspects of St. Xavier High School. On these days at 8:30 a.m., parents have the opportunity to tour the school and hear a presentation from a St. Xavier representative about programs, tuition assistance, scholarships, and the admissions process. Families may register for shadowing on our website at https://www.stxavier.org/admissions/visit.
