Week in Review
As you can see from the picture above, Book Character day was a fun hit. Thank you to second grade for filling our school with a buzz and high level of fun jazzed around books.
Thursday our staff meeting was energizing. Discussion and dialogue give way to some very special ideas. We have continued this work in the staff lounge area where you can see each groups post it notes with thoughts of building school. Thank you!
I had a requested meeting from two of our third grade students on Thursday. They are aspiring teachers who have taken interest in learning more about Myrtle the Turtle in our Adventure Center. They would like to start a club to study Myrtle, why her water will try to turn green and how to avoid it and also how to keep our canal in Indianapolis from turning green. They have creatred permission slips, a call out poster and I have encouraged them to make a video annoucement for our morning annoucements. Thank you to Miss Wyatt as it looks like they have recruited you to the position of being their sponsor.
Mrs. Drake also a had a student step forward demonstrating a strong leadership approach in Genius Hour. Kathy discovered a student has been calling several different business partners inquiring about their interest in organizing a small and quick campaign to help with support for the humane society. This was well received with over 8 boxes turned in by the student . I love this all student led endeavor!
Some things of note in this edition:
*You will find articles attached at the bottom of this note. One is written by an excellent leader of literacy, Jennifer Serravallo. This article is really strong for giving the reader opportunity to reflect on their role with instructional independent reading.
Carly is currently looking to launch a book study with Jennifer's newest book called The Reading Strategies Book.
What's going on in the lounge?
You will see a gathering of our thoughts and ideas as we stretch ourselves into building next year. Please feel free to study what other groups have created when we look at ideas for planning. In addition, feel free to add to the discussion of what we want our "lounge" to become.
