Message from the Principal

Junction families,

We had a very exciting and eventful first few weeks of school. Our teachers have spent countless hours making sure their classroom are a warm and inviting place for students. I am constantly impressed and proud of how dedicated and hard working our staff is

It is an honor and privilege to serve as the principal of Junction. As we continue our journey into the new year, I would like to take time to let you know that my door is always open. I look forward to having the opportunity to work with you to ensure our students’ growth and success.

The Junction staff and support personnel are committed to providing our students many opportunities both inside and outside of the classroom. We invite and encourage students and parents to work in partnership with us to seize opportunities that make a positive impact on our children.

Please know that we highly value home/school communication at Junction. It is vital and plays an integral role in each student’s success. We encourage you to contact us if/when the need arises and to stay in the know about your child’s classroom, assignments, assessments, and school activities, as well as other events and happenings.

Bus Cards

Bus riders will be receiving their bus cards on Tuesday, September 7. Each bus rider will also be provided a badge reel to clip their bus cards to their bookbags. It will be an expectation that students have their bus card everyday to scan on and off the bus. You will be able track your student(s) entry on and off the bus on your Traversa Ride 360 app.

For more information on the Traversa Ride 360 app click the link below:

We are quickly running out of extra masks we had as backups for students in need of one. We are asking for your help to make sure students come to school with a reliable mask and that an extra mask be packed in their bookbags to use as a backup.

The school day begins at 8:05. If a student is not in class by 8:05 they will be marked as tardy. If you are dropping your student off late, they must be signed in at the office by an adult in order for the tardy to be excused.

7 Tardies = 1 day of absence

Reporting an Absence

If your student(s) will be absent from school, please make sure to call our office or attendance line to report their absence. A student’s absence must be reported within 48 hours of their absence to be marked as Excused. We will attempt to call home if we have not received a call regarding a student’s absence. If we are unable to reach anyone, the student will be marked as Unexcused for the day. If your student has a doctors appointment, we highly recommend bringing back a doctor’s note. With a doctor’s note on file, we are able to change the student’s absence to Medical and it will not count against their attendance. The doctor’s office can also fax us a doctor’s note.

Students are allowed up to 10 excused days in a school year. After 10 excused days any absences will be marked as unexcused unless a doctor’s note is provided.

Students will be truant after the following:

Truancy will lead to Truancy Classes or referral to District Attorney –Wyandotte and DCF Referral

  • 3 consecutive unexcused absences
  • 5 unexcused absences in a semester
  • 7 unexcused absences in a school year
