***6th and 7th grade enrollment forms due TUESDAY!***

Week of 1/30

Dear CST Family,

What a wonderful week at CST! Both band and orchestra held concerts that included our upcoming 5th graders and the shows were so much fun. Boys basketball is off to a great start and so much fun to watch. A group of girls attend the Expanding Your Horizons event at Science City Friday night, and a group of our QUEST students took 3rd at the Future Cities competition held in Topeka on Saturday...awesome!

This is also enrollment season for our students. No matter the grade, next year is in the hopper and preparations are beginning. Both 6th and 7th grade students received instruction and forms to turn in for next year's course selection. Our 8th grade class have received feedback on 21st Century applications and also have enrollment meeting opportunities coming up (see below). There's still so much left of this year but we are certainly moving forward in preparation for 2023-2024!

The week ahead is a CST spirit week as we have 3 home basketball games (M, T, Th). All are CST color-themed and we are certainly hoping for a Super Bowl themed week the following week...Go Chiefs!

Have a great week ahead and let's go Wildcats!

Rick

First Home BBB Game: CST Sporting Event Reminders

At CST we promote positive fandom and sportsmanship. Students are instructed to cheer for our team and not against the other team. Therefore, "airball" or "scoreboard" chants or negative comments toward referees are examples of behaviors we don't allow.

We expect our adult fans to follow what we promote to our students. Fans are in attendance to cheer on the team and not to help coach or help ref the games.

Thank you for your support in promoting and demonstrating positive sportsmanship for our student fans and athletes.

First home game is Tuesday vs Summit Trail.

How does addiction work?

The video below was shared at the Alcohol to Fentanyl presentation Tuesday (1/10). It's a 5 minute video and one you may find helpful with your own kids.

8th grade: For the planners out there...

...mark your calendars for the 8th grade "Night of Recognition" on Tuesday, May 23rd at 6pm. This event is for all 8th grade students. More details to come in the 4th quarter.

Traffic Reminders

With colder weather we have less walkers/bikers and more vehicle traffic. Please plan accordingly and allow extra time for morning drop-off. Your child should have their items readily available and conversations finished prior to stopping so exiting the vehicle can be as efficient as possible. This helps the line not back up and maintains a constant flow of traffic. A few other reminders to assist with safety and efficiency...

  • Those dropping in the front of the school may pass vehicles in the activity drop-off on the left
  • If dropping off at the activity entrance, please do not pass others who are dropping off at the activity entrance to then merge back into the same activity drop-off lane--this creates a safety issue
  • Form 2 lines for afternoon pick-up--students may cross at the front cross walk with CST staff only...do not encourage your child to run across traffic or parking lot.

Reminders for Walkers and Bike Riders

Please help us reinforce with students the best sidewalks to use upon arrival for walkers/bike riders (seen with the purple arrows on the map below).

  • Students from east of Mur-Len should cross at the 159th/Mur-Len light and walk/ride toward the football field. They will avoid having to cross all vehicle traffic in the parking lot by doing this.
  • Students coming from Lindenwood should take a left upon reaching the CST property and use the sidewalk next to our open field on the west. They should not cross exiting traffic onto 159th from the CST parking lot.
  • A new bike rack was placed at the doors west of the front entrance.
  • Students should exit the building using the same routes. PLEASE talk with students about crossing 159th at the light/cross walk...for their own safety, they should not cross 159th at any other location.

Thank you for your support as we promote safety and efficiency.
