Special Messages
Cobb's Got Talent - The Cobb PTA Talent Show will be held Friday, January 27th. Singers, Dancers, Musicians, Comedians and Actors, it is that time of year to entertain us! Auditions will be held January 19th and 20th in room B122. Get your acts together and be ready to WOW your friends and family! Please contact Lisa Guindon at talent_show@cobbpta.org with any questions.
GT Referrals - Open referrals for the Cobb Middle School GT Program will be accepted January 3 through January 17. All paperwork must be submitted by January 17. If you are interested in having your child screened, please contact Lindsay Brotherson. If your child is already receiving GT services, he/she does not need to be rescreened. For more details, please read this informational sheet and visit the links within.
FISD Independent Study and Mentorship Research Showcase - The Gene and Jerry Jones Family Foundation will host the Annual Frisco ISD Independent Study and Mentorship (ISM) Research Showcase at the Ford Center at The Star on January 18th from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Top students from eight FISD high schools will showcase their first semester of work and goals for the rest of the year. The event is open to the public.
Overdue Library Book Round Up - Does your student have an overdue library book that needs to be returned? Or maybe it's lost and needs to be replaced? Get all the details of the Overdue Library Book Round Up here.
FREE Parent Program - "Your Child, the Internet and Social Media," will be offered to parents in the evening on January 30th or in the morning on February 2nd. Learn more here.
Hogwarts Read-a-Thon - The Cobb Library Club is hosting the 5th Annual Read-a-Thon event to raise funds for charity. Cobb students voted to use the funds raised to continue buying new books for children who are served at the food pantry at Frisco Family Services. The goal is to raise at least $2500 through the Read-a-Thon event. Money raised beyond our goal will be used to serve another book-related charity in the Dallas-Fort Worth area designated by student vote. At the Harry Potter themed Read-a-Thon, students will read four hours by flashlight in tents and during reading breaks compete with Hogwarts Houses in crazy games and competitions for the House Cup throughout an evening filled with books, laughter, and lots of snacks! The event is hosted by Librarian Mary Virginia Meeks and staffed by fun teachers as well as some amazing high school volunteers who will serve as House Prefects. Please contact Ms. Meeks at meeksm@friscoisd.org if you are willing to donate snacks, small prizes, time decorating, Harry Potter related items, etc!
Event Date: Friday, February 3
Time: Immediately after school until 10:00 p.m.
Packets are available in the library and on the library website through January 18. ON Thursday, January 19 at 7:45 a.m. we will begin accepting complete packets (permission form, pledge sheet, and $10 for evening meals/snacks in the library).
NOTE: Event is limited to the first 80 students to turn in a COMPLETE packet. Based on past Read-a-Thon sign-ups, we anticipate being full before noon that day. If any spots remain, complete packets will be accepted the rest of the week until all 80 spots are filled.
FCA Weekend of Champions Camp - February 24-26th (Registration deadline February 10th) at Lake View Camp in Waxahachie. Register at www.dfwfca.org/woc.
Join the Club - One of the best parts of middle school is getting involved with a group of your peers to do something you enjoy outside the classroom. Cobb has a diverse list of clubs and organizations to fit every student's interests, so encourage your child to try one out!
