Parents, you should have picked up a magnet that looks like the image below. You need to review it daily. If you answer yes for your student to any quesiton, THEY NEED TO STAY HOME. THE ONLY WAY WE STAY OPEN IS IF EVERYONE IS CAREFUL.

If everyone checks their symptoms daily, we can keep the school open! Let's all work together.

To open, some staff have to learn how to properly put on and wear PPE. We also have to be fitted for N95 masks. Please help us not have to use this equipment by KEEPING SICK KIDS HOME.

Travel and Hybrid

There has been a lot of questions about this. THINGS WILL CHANGE. Here is the current guidelines as on 3/3/21:

On January 6, 2021, the California Department of Public Health (“CDPH”) issued an updated travel advisory recommending the following restrictions for those who engaged in non-essential travel, defined as travel that is considered tourism or recreational in nature:

“Except in connection with essential travel, Californians should avoid non-essential travel to any part of California more than 120 miles from one's place of residence, or to other states or countries.” It goes on to say that if people stay in California, while travel over 120 miles is discouraged, they are not required to self-quarantine."

"Quarantine Post-Travel: All persons arriving in or returning to California from other states or countries, should self-quarantine for 10 days [ii] after arrival, except as necessary to meet urgent critical healthcare staffing needs or to otherwise engage in emergency response. Additionally, this recommendation does not apply to individuals who routinely cross state or country borders for essential travel [iii]."

Instruction during March 10-19

On March 10, you will pick up work and opening information.

There will be Warne Wednesday on 3/10 and 3/17.

Teachers will have daily zooms from 3/10-3/19. They may post instructional video sto help with the work.

There will be no small group zooms during 3/10-3/19.

Packets will be collected the first day back to Hybrid for your student.

Help keep music in our schools! The board positions for president and treasurer still need to be filled for the Mark West Education Foundation to continue. Please contact the Foundation at mwef@mwusd.org if you are interested or have any questions.

As the district prepares to switch to a hybrid learning model, music instruction at all grade levels will continue to be provided solely through distance learning through the end of this school year, due to safety protocols and scheduling.

Students who will be on campus for hybrid learning in a few weeks can keep an eye (and ear!) out for Mrs. Kaufman who will be visiting the campuses on occasion during recess to play some live music! Song requests welcome!
