The RHE Rattler
April 7, 2022
A Note from Mrs. Frankhouser
Our second graders had a fabulous field trip to Johnson City Zoo today! They came home tired and happy, which is what that's all about.
Thanks for everyone's patience as we continue to have bus routes canceled. When bus routes get canceled, all those students are picked up in our car rider lines, and that makes our traffic a bit more challenging.
I know it is inconvenient when buses are canceled. We are feeling staff shortages it in almost every department in our district. Food and Nutrition services, maintenance, and transportation have really felt it. Quite honestly, the cost of living in our community is pricing these valuable people out. Commuting is getting more difficult as traffic increases and gas prices go up. I'm not sure what the answer is, but I do want you to know that we are doing everything we can to be as efficient as possible with our car rider lines. The truth is....we have a lot of kids and we have to make sure they go with the right adults at the end of the day. Safety comes before convenience. We appreciate your patience!
The 5th Grade Talent Show is around the corner! Join us at 6:30pm in the RHE cafeteria to be amazed by our talented Rattlers!
Lockdown Drill April 14th
In 2019, Lake Travis ISD officials introduced the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) to address school safety. The SRP is a proven method of creating shared language and actions among students, staff, and first responders during a school emergency.
As part of this protocol, our staff and students will take part in a lockdown drill on Thursday, April 14, 2022. As a result, you may see law enforcement officers, safety vehicles and/or other emergency responders on site.
The drill is scheduled to take place in the morning and should take no longer than 15 minutes to complete. Once the exercise is concluded, all normal school operations will resume. Our teachers and students have been advised of the drill and are prepared to participate. We appreciate your patience, understanding, and support during this time.
One Community, One School, One Book

The STAAR Test
Our testing landscape is changing this year. We have a new test vendor and with that comes some changes in the way items are assessed. All testing is online. Our Rattlers participated in a practice "interim assessment" right before spring break that gave them needed practice with the testing platform and gave teachers valuable feedback on their progress.
For more information, click here for the TEA Division of Student Assessment.
