From the Administrative Team
Shout outs of the week!
Lucas Vert - Student teacher in Physical Education; Jr. High Boys and Girls Basketball Coach; Assistant Girls Basketball Coach; Assistant Boys and Girls Track and Field Coach.
He is busy! With a schedule mix-up, we needed a quick supervisor for a study hall. When asked if he could cover it with very short (actually no) notice, he replied, "Sure! Happy to!" What a great educator and team player. Thank you, Coach Vert!
Roben Tebbenkamp - Financial Administrative Assistant
You can imagine how busy it is the first week of school. Teachers need supplies and last minute curriculum orders. Mrs. Tebbenkamp takes it all in stride and always finds a way to deliver exactly what we need. She is so efficient and professional, thank you Mrs. Tebbenkamp!
Mike Blake - Daytime Custodian
Mike has done a tremendous job for us at Greenwood! He will be transferring to a different location and this was his last week. We wish him well and hope he knows how valuable he has been for our team. Good luck Mike, we will miss you!
Custodians - our thanks to Melissa, Peggy and Jason for all of their hard work and being diligent about cleaning our learning environment. We value your efforts!
Jason Barlowe - Technology
Have you seen a quick blur in the hallway? That is Mr. Barlowe running from room to room assisting with technology. Thank you to Mr. Barlowe, your efforts are appreciated!
Heather Seal and Alexa Snodgrass - Nurses are so vital to our school. We are so happy to have a nursing team of this caliber to serve this year. We welcome back Heather Seal who will be here on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. We are also thrilled to welcome this year Alexa Snodgrass who will be in the health room on Tuesdays and Fridays. Thank you both for what you do for our students and staff!

Communication is everywhere....
Junior Caroline Dugal is an intern in the main office. As another initiative on improving communication, Caroline and Dorian Khoshyomn are working together to make sure secondary students are hearing the announcements and seeing the announcements. Caroline is launching a new announcement page called “Wing Express” that will be displayed in the bathrooms. This is similar to “Toilet Talks” that you may have viewed at other facilities. It is another avenue to keep our students informed! Let Caroline know if you would like an announcement covered in the Wing Express. Thank you!

Greenwood Debate...is so GREAT!
Greenwood Debate Success at Nationals!
Every summer, more than 6,000 middle and high school students participate in the largest academic competition in the world to debate current events. This year FIVE Greenwood students qualified to participate in the National Speech and Debate Association (NSDA) National Tournament. Dorian Khoshyomn represented Greenwood as an Octa-finalist in International Extemporaneous Speaking. Samiha Khan (class of 2021) advanced to the top 25 in the largest event at the tournament – Extemporaneous Debate – which had over 800 students competing. Lisa Carpenter (class of 2021) also advanced to the top 40 in Extemporaneous Debate. Zach Wehrenberg and Jamie Alford also qualified to participate in the event.
The Blue Jays are excited to begin a new season of Speech and Debate. We welcome any interested other students! The team practices after school on Wednesdays in Room 212.
