Grit is passion and perseverance for long term goals. It’s a marathon
not a sprint.- Duckworth
Food for thought:
A true predictor of success is not talent, title, wealth, or good looks. It is GRIT. Grit is the ability to work hard for a long period of time toward a focused goal and keep moving toward it in spite of challenges, obstacles, and failures. Grit is a marathon not a sprint. Grit is your perseverance and persistence to keep going despite rejection, pain, and struggle. Grit won’t let you quit. When you get knocked down, you continually get up over and over again. Your personal grit is powered by your stubbornness, your passion, your purpose, and your refusing to never give up. Your determination to persevere sets a positive example for our students. Continue to model a sense of “stick-to-it-ness” so our students will reach their long term goals. Help our students understand that it takes hard work to reach these goals. When we learn to embrace challenges and manage frustrations we develop true grit. This grit will last a lifetime.
Plan engaging lessons and activities for your students to keep them focused on and excited about learning. Collaborate with other teachers and share resources and ideas. Behavior issues are less likely to occur when students are engaged in learning.
Note: Don't forget to give Caught Being Good passes and Positive Office Referrals to students who are displaying one or more of the three R's: Respect, Responsible, and/or Ready!
