Welcome Back to School

Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year! The entire staff of Sunkist School has missed each of you and is looking forward to meeting with you in person once again! We have been planning and preparing for the last few months to ensure that all students continue to inspire and empower students so they may thrive!


The 2021-2022 school year begins on Thursday, August 26, 2021, and all Sunkist teachers will be on campus for in-person instruction. Sunkist's school day will follow the schedule below:

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday

Kindergarten- 8:00-11:21

1st-3rd grade- 8:00-2:20

4th and 5th grade-8:00-2:30


Wednesdays only

Kindergarten- 8:00-11:21

1st-3rd grade- 8:00-12:33

4th and 5th grade- 8:00-12:38


School and Home Communication

Sunkist maintains a school website that has current school information, including a monthly Newsletter. Teachers will maintain contact with parents/guardians using platforms including phone calls, notes, and text messages. Communication between home and school is essential to the success of all of our students and is a priority.


Social and Emotional Support

We realize that many students may be experiencing anxiety or fear about returning to school in the current situation. We want to make sure that this does not interfere with their ability to learn. Sunkist's amazing counselor Maria Pilotzi is on campus to support our students while in school, and she also has information to provide support for students and families from outside agencies. According to the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), recent evidence indicates that in-person instruction can occur safely without a minimum physical distancing requirement when other mitigation strategies are implemented.

As California schools plan for a complete return to in-person instruction for the 2021-22 school year, universal masking and other Covid-19 mitigation strategies will be prioritized.

Sunkist Elementary School follows a school uniform dress code:

Top- White, light blue, or dark blue, or forest green polo style

Pants/Skirts/Shorts- Navy blue or khaki

Sunkist school spirit shirts are allowed everyday as well
