Grade Level Meeting: Recap 3/19/15

4th Grade

Heat Maps

On Thursday you received the Spring Semester Heat Map that we will be using to analyze to notice trends, strengths, and areas of growth. This will lead to continue planning aligned units and lessons that include thoughtful and differentiated strategies, to ensure that all students reach their academic goals. Your participation to share/discuss instructional practices is the key to guarantee that we are working as a team.

We analyzed the Heat Map through all the assessments that have been administered, including Fall ACP and Mock STAAR. We were able to identify the following TEKS as the focal points for the following weeks before the STAAR, since they have been historically highly tested in previous STAARs.

4.2G (3 questions) - 68.3%

Relate decimals to fractions that name tenths and hundredths

4.5B (4 questions) - 55%

Represent problems using a input-output table and numeral expressions to generate a number pattern that follows a given rule representing the relationship of the values in the resulting sequence and their position in the sequence

4.6D (3 questions) - 50.5%

Classify two-dimensional figures based on the presence or absence of parallel or perpendicular lines or the presence or absence of angles of a specified size

4.8C (3/4 questions) - 53.7%

Solve problems that deal with measurements of length, intervals of time, liquid volumes, mass, and money using addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division as appropriate

4.9A (2 questions) - 67.4%

Represent data on a frequency table, dot plot, or stem-and-leaf plot marked with whole numbers and fractions.

The TEKS and percentages below are grade-level numbers. Please review your Heat Maps, as they may change from class to class.

We decided to start with the TEKS that have below 60% of mastery. You mentioned that you are already implementing a plan of 1 TEKS for multiple days using word problems to review. Through SGI and review of this TEKS, the students will have more opportunity to master the content.

Please review the link below named New Mathematics TEKS for Texas - Live Binder, as you will find clarifying activities for the TEKS mentioned above. It is under TEKS Support, below 4th Grade.

Please let me know if you need any further assistance.

Thanks for your time, effort and dedication!
