Message From Your Leadership Team
Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year at Plank Road South Elementary School! Although summer isn’t quite over yet, we are eagerly awaiting the opportunity to greet all of you in the coming weeks. We hope you have had a fabulous time over the past couple of months connecting with family and friends and are gearing up for another school year of living our Webster Central School District vision of being Compassionately Connected, Joyfully Engaged and Always Learning!
At Plank South, we take pride in educating the whole child and this year will be no exception. We plan to continue our goal of building resiliency in all of our students through social-emotional learning, wellness initiatives and striving to achieve academic excellence. We are committed to becoming more culturally responsive and will focus on making sure that ALL of our stakeholders’ voices are heard. Equity, diversity and inclusion will be taught and celebrated throughout the school year through literature, connections to Webster’s Essential Skills and hands on learning experiences.
We hope you find your Plank South experience to be rewarding in many ways. Our incredibly dedicated staff is committed to establishing positive relationships and maintaining a warm, welcoming and caring learning environment where all children can thrive. We value partnerships with parents/guardians to provide the highest quality educational experience for our students.
On behalf of our entire school staff, we welcome your family to Plank South and look forward to establishing/strengthening connections with you and making sure your child has a fabulous school year! Social Worker
We wanted to be sure to share with you some of the ways we can support families, and indirectly your child’s development and learning, outside of school. At different points in our lives we all need a little help and if/when you (or a family in our school community you know) needs some help our school social worker, Janet Weisensel, is a fabulous resource who can help support families.
As the school social worker, Mrs. Weisensel can help collaborate with you to provide support, guidance, and access to valuable resources in our community (including navigating community systems that are often difficult to understand). Through confidential consultation she can help assist you or someone you know with accessing the following:
financial assistance
health insurance/medical care
holiday assistance
child care
employment
food/clothing
transportation/housing
family support when there is a crisis at home such as separation/divorce, death, etc.
counseling
school supplies
One of the things we know is that your child’s well-being and learning in school is intertwined with your child’s experiences at home, so please do not hesitate to reach out to Mrs. Weisensel with any questions.
