Learn About The Project!

RILINK has received a $11,950 LSTA grant from OLIS for Project Read - FEED YOUR MIND AND YOUR HEART. The project will

  • develop a list of digital audio books to be purchased in multiple copies, 15 copies of each of fifteen titles at each level - elementary, middle and high school for a total of 225 digital titles.
  • provide online access to eBooks with read-aloud functionality and digital audio books for K-12 students who have limited reading skills or are reluctant readers and do not qualify for materials and services to the blind and physically handicapped
  • encourage parents, grandparents, teachers and other community members to share the reading experience
  • make connections to books that can be read, shared and discussed by members of both groups through the use of social media, online library collections and classroom connections.

RILINK will add from our budget with an emphasis placed on titles that can be read with students and discussed as a classroom, family, or community activity.

To find out more about the project, suggest a title to be shared, and view the suggested lists to date, see our web site at

Submit Title Suggestions!

We are requesting members share their suggestions for titles to be part of Project Read. Visit the website at or access the Suggest a Title form directly.

Volunteer your expertise to select titles!

RILINK needs librarians to help select the multiple-copy audio book titles to be added at each of the three levels – elementary, middle and high school. If you are interested in working on this aspect of our grant project, please contact Dorothy.

This project was made possible in part by a grant from the RI Office of Library and Information Services using funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
