Our First Day of AIM!
Today was a very strong start to our AIM year. Although I only had them for an hour it was so much fun to watch them jump into our first "project". The next several weeks will be used to introduce the engineer design process (problem, brainstorm, design, build, test, re-test, present). We use this design process a lot in AIM! The class was presented with the problem that two bunnies needed to leave their community (issues with too many foxes) and wanted to establish their own town. In groups our class had to design and build a billboard to encourage other bunnies to move to our new town. The billboard had to stand on its own, give the town a snazzy new name and include pictures that would attract new bunny residents. The groups were given 5 minutes to discuss and sketch out their ideas and then it was building time! I should mention that the materials used for these challenges are usually random items that leave the door wide open for creativity. We will finish this challenge next week!
