Zoom and Loom, Who Got Caught?
Zoom and Loom
During the last informational update by the District’s Administration, there were several concerns about Zoom and recordings. Let’s tackle Zoom first. If you are concerned with the cybersecurity or integrity of your Zoom links, you should check out the information found on the Empower Page. There are plenty of resources available to us to help with the safety and security of our Zoom links. While you are visiting the Zoom resources, there is also a tutorial on how to record your Zoom session whether it’s from a Chromebook or a laptop/PC.
In addition, I have included a tutorial on how to keep your Zoom up to date, as well as re-visiting our settings for scheduling a meeting. The tutorial will address such things:
enabling/disabling the chat feature
Host and Participant video on/off
mute on/off
screen sharing
enabling the waiting room with sounds to notify when a new participant enters.
Also on the Empower website, under the Loom subpage, is a video and google doc on how to record lessons using Loom.
If you have any questions whatsoever, don’t ever hesitate to reach out to me, Tara or Lisa. Check out my schedule below and stop by and visit me while I am in your building and we can discuss some strategies that can work for you!
Who Got Caught?
Has anyone noticed the new “I Caught” option on the Empower website? If you haven’t, head on over and check it out. The “I Caught…” form is courtesy of the Cyclone Learning Zone. I’m not going to spoil it, you’ll have to check it out. Here’s the link.
Keeping Your Parents in the Know!
A few weeks back, I mentioned how a growth mindset can be beneficial during times like these. This is evident in Alison MacLean’s attempt to put out informational documents to the parents of her students. Alison’s attempt spawned from a fail, but she didn’t let the fail defeat her. Alison was attempting to create a tutorial for the parents of her students so the parents could help their student log in to the new ELA program, Amplify. When her video exceeded the time limit in the program she was using, she instead went a different route and created this beautiful infographic for the parents of her students to reference. This infographic was created with Google Slides, a screenshot tool(Lightshot), and distributed through Parent Square to the parents.
