Principal's Message
Last Friday we were proud to host two tour groups from the EdSpaces conference in Milwaukee. From their website, "EDspaces is the premier event for the educational facilities marketplace exploring how the convergence of technology, space, and pedagogy impact learning." We toured architects, designers, university professors, distributers, and K-12 school staff from all over the country. It was a great experience to share our learning and our space with others!
After school club offers will soon begin and our teachers are excited to share their time and talents with students after school! Over the last few years, we have seen a growing interest in the clubs and activities we offer for students. That has caused us to look at how to best balance participation, access, and equity. One big change will be how we handle sign-ups. If the number of students interested in participating exceeds the club enrollment capacity, club participants will be drawn through a random lottery drawing. All others will be on a waitlist. As the year goes on preference will be given to students who have not been in a club. For example, let’s say that two students both want to be in the Spanish Club. Student A has been in Dance Club and Yoga Club and Student B has not been in any clubs, Student B would be selected first for Spanish Club. The school will keep a record of club participants so we can try to provide equal opportunities for all students. Once your child has been notified of being on a club roster there is a one-time club fee of $10.00, which covers all clubs your child participates in during the school year. You can pay this on Family Access.
Finally, October was a big month for our PTO! They ran our book fair, organized our school dance, provided dinner for staff during parent-teacher conferences, and purchased a new laminator for the school! Thank you to the many volunteers who made all of that possible, it was a great month!
Paws Up!
