A reminder that Monday kicks off the Lake County "Attendance Week." Let's see where Caruso stacks up against the best of Lake County in regards to our attendance! Thank you for promoting excellent attendance for our students this week and throughout the year!
Also, make sure to save the date for our Caruso student-led conferences which will be held on November 20th and 21st! Sign-up information will be sent to you in the coming month.

1st/FINAL Posting - YES Prep Fifth Ward
As a reminder, to help assist recovery efforts following Hurricane Harvey we have "adopted" a middle school in Houston. YES Prep Fifth Ward school community has reached out for assistance following this disaster and we are doing our best to help them.
If any family wishes to contribute money or gift cards (Wal-mart, Target, Kroger, and HEB were suggested) you can drop off an envelope in our front office.
1ST/FINAL POSTING - BUS PASSES
A reminder that bus passes have been distributed to students for families who have paid, or those who live in free transportation areas. Drivers are checking for bus passes and no student will be allowed on a bus without a pass. Please contact our front office if you need assistance with your pass.

1st/FINAL Posting - Prudential Spirit of Community Award
The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program is the United States’ largest youth recognition program based exclusively on volunteer community service.
Created in 1995 by Prudential and the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), the program honors middle level and high school students for outstanding service to others at the local, state and national level.
Thus far, it has recognized more than 120,000 young people who’ve made a difference – and inspired countless others to consider how they might contribute to their communities.

2nd POSTING – 6TH GRADE PHYSICALS (AND DENTAL FORMS)
By state law, 6th grade physicals must be turned in by Monday, October 16. Failure to do so by that date will result in exclusion from school until the physical is submitted. If you have any questions please email our health assistant, Anna Ghukasyan, at aghukasyan@dps109.org.
Dental forms are not due until May but you are encouraged to turn those in as well to complete your state-required forms for the year. Please see the district website for details about required paperwork and vaccinations, or call Ms. Ghukasyan with any questions or concerns.
2nd/FINAL Posting - 6th Grade Bash!
Calling all 6th Graders!! Don't miss the annual Welcome to Caruso 6th Grade Bash!
Friday, September 15th, 7-8:15 pm in the Caruso Gym.
$10 advance purchase on the PTO website (Carusopto.org) and $15 at the door on the night of the event. Price includes pizza, bottled water, dessert and DJ dance party.
Parents please help out by baking NUT FREE treats. Baked goods should be dropped off at the school office during the day of the event.

Want to stay up-to-date with daily student announcements at Caruso Middle School? If you have not already done so, consider subscribing to our "News and Announcements" postings on our CMS website (scroll down a little and you will find it on the left side).
If you do not want to subscribe feel free to visit the site often to stay current on happenings at CMS! These announcements are shared with students every morning during first period.
6th Posting - PTO Student Directory
It's time to sign up for 2017-2018 Caruso PTO Membership!!
Membership to the PTO includes The Caruso Caller (Student Directory) online and two smart phone apps.
Here’s what to do:
1. Go to http://www.carusopto.org.
2. Click on the orange button to login or create an account for Caruso.
3. If you created a new account, you must add your student's information to be listed in the Caruso Caller. To add student(s), select My Info at the top of the page and select My Student. Then select add new student and enter the information.
4. Add membership to cart and check out.
5. After you pay your dues, you will receive an email with instructions on how to download and register the directory app. You can disregard the information about the registration key, unless you do not have the latest version of the app. To activate the account, tap settings and then account setup. If you are still having trouble adding the Caruso subscription, you can also delete and then reinstall the app.
**Please note the following:
- Please take a moment to review all of your information and make sure everything is correct. If you need to edit any information, you may do so under the "My Info" tab on the website.
- You can make changes to your contact information at any time during the school year and those changes are automatically updated in the directory/app.
- The Caruso Caller (directory) may be found in the "My Info" drop down menu.
It’s easy! Please sign up by Friday, September 1st.
