Quote of the Week

Problems do not go away. They must be worked through or else they remain, forever a barrier to the growth and development of the spirit.

The Good Stuff!

Homecoming Dance

Thank you to those staff that were able to help out at the Homecoming Dance last Saturday! The record turnout of students did a great job and had a lot of FUN! Major KUDOS to Angela and her Student Council for the awesome planning and set-up for the evening. It was the perfect ending to Homecoming Week!!

Annual U of M vs. MSU RFC Luncheon

Holy COW was the food delisious this year!! Major KUDOS to Angela for the idea, organization, getting the food and for Sherry Williams, Deb Gray, Elizabeth Switzer, Phoebe Borst (I'm sure there were others as well) for their efforts this morning in preparing it.

OK2SAY Assemblies

I have heard nothing but great feedback from staff and parents (and most students) regarding the OK2SAY presentations and programming. Thank you for your efforts during the assemblies and with the debrief session. We were able to provide direct assistance to several students in a timely fashion because of your diligence in reading over their written reflections before turning them in. AWESOME JOB!! Also, major KUDOS to Ray for his efforts in setting up for the assemblies and then (very quickly) getting the gym and cafeteria ready for classes and lunches.

On a side note, we sent a Family Access email to all FC parents with the explanation about assembly presentation and program as well as a link to view the videos that our students watched. We highly encouraged parents to watch the videos and have a discussion with their son or daughter.

Lastly, you'll be happy to hear that we received several OK2SAY Tips just yesterday and, when we followed up with the information, 100% of the tips where right on and situations were handled immediately. So far, several students have felt they have an avenue to report information and the program is working well!

Educational Resources

On the heels of our OK2SAY Assemblies, I read a relevant and meaningful blog post from educator Megan McCarter (Director of Programs at Odyssey Community School in Asheville, NC). This post involves research-based strategies for conflict resolutions and involving various programming within the curriculum. I'd appreciate your thoughts on these recommendations. Next Week

I wanted to give you a heads up that I will be out of the building next week Tuesday (10/20) through Friday (10/23) for a family trip to Disney World. It was literally my Dad's last wish for my Mom to organize this once in a lifetime trip with the whole family. We feel so fortunate and blessed to have this opportunity!

Kelly will be the go-to person for the week when you have questions/concerns and I feel extremely comfortable with her leadership capabilities! We also have a ROCK SOLID office team (Deb, Tara, Sherry, Jody, Diane, Ray and Bruce) that is second to none.

In the event of an emergency, Dan Zang and Dr. VanderJagt are aware of my absence and are on stand-by if needed.

Riddle of the Week

To be completely transparent, Tom VB was ONLY able to guess the correct answer after the clue was put up AND having a discussion about it.

Riddle - "16, 06, 68, 88, ?, 98 - What is the ?"

Answer - "The ‘?’ is ‘L8′. All of the numbers, when read upside down, are the numbers 86 – 91."

Have a sporting Blue and Green weekend!!
