Welcome, Director of Public Relations, Lisa Gilchrist

Please join me in welcoming Lisa Gilchrist as our new Director of Public Relations, pending School Board approval. Gilchrist has been the communications technician for Bellingham Public Schools since 2013. During her time in the district, she led the redesign process of the district and school websites. Gilchrist is an experienced writer and enjoys telling and sharing the stories of the great work happening in our schools. She has received statewide recognition in the areas of website, video, and publications. She is well known for being service-oriented and student-focused. Gilchrist has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Western Washington University.

Gilchrist and her husband live in Bellingham. In their free time, they enjoy hiking and traveling to new places. She looks forward to bringing her knowledge and experience to Meridian School District and becoming part of the Meridian family. Gilchrist will start in this new role in January.

Health Update

Our nurses have conveyed a concern with a rise in students who have had allergy symptoms, had their students COVID-tested without school knowledge, and then sent them back to school before getting the results. In some cases, these have resulted in exposures since the tested students were found to be positive. If your student has allergy-like or cold-type symptoms please have them COVID tested and keep them home until the results are returned. As the weather continues to change, students will be spending more time indoors. We appreciate the continued support from our families. Thank you.

Gratitude

Tomorrow is the Thanksgiving holiday. No matter how Thanksgiving is celebrated in your home, my hope is you have an opportunity to reflect on the amazing people who enrich our lives, enjoy your family and friends, and find time to rest & relax. We have much to be grateful for and I wish for your Thanksgiving to be fantastic!
