PTSA Needs Your Help!
We need your help!
Get involved in shaping Del Norte High School by volunteering for one of the few PTSA board positions opening up at the end of the school year. The PTSA is a non-profit volunteer-run association that provides continuous support for our students and teachers. Since the principal attends our meetings, it's a great way to improve our children's education while meeting other dedicated parents. We cannot do this without wonderful volunteers like you!
The deadline is February 12th so that we can start planning for next year. If you want to learn more, please contact dnhs.ptsa@gmail.com.

Parenting and Supporting LGBTQ + Children and Teens - All Grades
Parenting children can be very challenging and adding the LGBTQ+ life to parenting can be overwhelming. This workshop will provide parents/caregivers insight into the LGBTQ+ children and teens. We will be working to understand the unique needs of each child, finding common ground between children and parents/caregivers while exploring communication skills to best carry our message as parents/caregivers of love and hope for their future. The class is free and on Wednesday, February 3rd from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. via Zoom. To register, click HERE.

Help Needed for Career Presentations!
Each winter and spring, the counseling department offers career presentations to our student body. This is an opportunity for students to learn first-hand about professions that interest them. We are hoping to continue this opportunity and are looking for parents in our Nighthawk community who would be interested in sharing information regarding their career journey. These are informal Zoom meetings on a designated Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday from 11:25 a.m. to 11:55 a.m. (student lunch period). Zoom link will be provided.
This year we plan to align the presentations with our Career Technical Education (CTE) pathways. PUSD Career Technical Education focuses on the changing workplace that demands high levels of academic and applied knowledge and skill. Throughout the district, career pathway programs are offered in twelve of the fifteen high-growth industry sectors identified by the state of California. To learn more about the CTE Program, click here.
Each week we hope to focus on one of the specific pathways offering a career presentation that fits the pathway. To view the pathways that Del Norte offers, click here.
If you would like to volunteer your time and offer a virtual lunch career presentation, please email Sue Reich at sreich@powayusd.com. Please include a brief description of your career.
February Break
A reminder to families that the 2021 February break has been shortened from five days off to just two days off due to COVID-related adjustments to the 2020-21 school year calendar. There is no school on Monday, February 15 and Friday, February 19 due to the observance of Washington’s and Lincoln’s birthdays. However, school will be in session Tuesday through Thursday, February 16 through February 18, so students are expected to attend class on those three days. Spring Break remains the same from Monday, April 12 through Friday, April 16. The last day of school was changed to Friday, June 18, 2021. You can view the official District calendar here.
