Mr. Scheunemann's Video Message
Principal Message:
Hello LES/OSC Families,
I wanted to share a couple thoughts with you. First, at LES/OSC we understand that life is bigger than just school, yet we also understand school is a big part of life. We believe that what we teach is important but not more important than the students we get to teach. The reason we are here is for students and we are committed to helping them learn and grow.
Secondly, we recognize and appreciate the role you play in your child's learning. The countless ways you provide for your child and set your child up for success is truly appreciated. I have been impressed by the level of support I've witnessed from all you. Not only have you demonstrated a commitment to your child but you have also demonstrated a level of support for staff that does not go unnoticed. Thank you!
Lastly, I wanted to recognize the work students do. Students have adjusted to the expectations we have for them as learners and members of our learning community. We have high expectations but we also work hard to provide them with the support they need to succeed. Lately, I've been especially impressed with their flexibility and perseverance through the K-5 Opera for the Young performance, Fire Safety presentations, the Costume Parade, and helicopters flying nearby taking down light poles while all still trying to learn. I am proud to be their principal daily!
In case you didn't have time to watch the video. Below are the two points I focused on:
1. Cake Analogy: Like a cake, whose ingredients only taste good when they are mixed together, life includes moments that on their own aren't pleasant and moments we really enjoy on their own yet are also part of what shapes us into who we are and makes life good when mixed together.
2. Burden vs. Load:
- Load = Something you should be able to carry on your own. For example, I should be able to get to work on my own without help. When someone has to carry your load it becomes a burden.
- Burden = Something you should NOT carry on your own. For example, the loss of a loved one. Burdens are meant to be shared!
With Lodi Pride,
Mr. Eric Scheunemann
LES/OSC Principal

Art Update
At the LES and OSC students have been focusing on a variety of things including craftsmanship, taking time on our projects, lines and colors in art class. As the school year progresses students will have the opportunity to make paintings, sculptures, clay and more! Student artwork will be on display at the Associated Bank in Lodi throughout the year, feel free to stop by and take a look if you are interested.

Library Update
What’s Happening in the Library?
Happy Fall! The leaves are falling off of the trees and the books are coming off of the shelves! It’s what we love to see!
My name is Ms. Good and I’m the librarian at the primary school, OSC, and the elementary school. Ms. Skelton, (usually called Miss Skeleton,) is the library assistant and is very helpful to kids trying to find a good book to check out! We have had about 6 lessons this year and have read some great books and quickly gotten into the swing of things.
A few topics we’ve learned about or reviewed are:
Expected library behaviors, including taking good care of the books!
The difference between fiction and nonfiction
Which books are in different sections of the library
How to use Destiny: our program on the computer that allows us to search all of the books in our library and look up which books you have checked out, etc.
Chromebook device care
We’ve also ordered a ton of new books and it’s been exciting getting them out for everyone!
Students can check their books out for 10 school days. They can check out 3 a day and 6 total, but we encourage them to take what they need.
Feel free to contact me at any time if you have any questions at goodamy@lodischoolswi.org.
Happy reading,
Ms. Good
Music Update
We have had a very busy and exciting fall in music.
On October 14 Lodi Primary School joined LES/OSC for the Opera For The Young’s performance of “The Barber of Seville." Not only did we show the OFTY performers that we were excellent audience members, we were also able to sing along with the opera cast on four songs. Plus we had 16 of our students join the OFTY performers on stage as the Opera Company. Our Lodi Musicians were amazing! We found out that opera can be fun.
We have been learning and practicing songs for the upcoming Veteran's Day Program and will be preparing for our Winter Concert which is December 9th.

Physical Education Update
I am happy to announce that Cody Endres will be our new Physical Education Teacher. During the interview process Cody shared this with us, "One of the things that excites me most about this position is the opportunity to work with every kid in the district. As a teacher, we never know which kids we might connect with best and work to develop a relationship with to help positively shape the trajectory of their lives. Having the blessing to work with all Lodi students would be a true dream come true."
Karen Goheen and Kurt Wilson have been sharing the position in the meantime. They bring experience and expertise to the Physical Education classroom and we are so thankful for all they have done for us at LES/OSC.
Caught Being Kind
The students pictured below were recognized for acts of kindness they did. These acts are above and beyond our expectations of being responsible, respectful, and safe. We know that there are numerous acts of kindness our students do that we don't always see and appreciate those as well.
October LES/OSC Pictures
I am proud of the way staff and students embrace the opportunities
we create at LES/OSC to connect and learn.
I am so proud of the work students and staff do daily!
