Happening this week...

The first six weeks is over and grade reports are out. After reviewing grades and reflecting on your performance for this first grading period are there areas of concern you or your student have discovered. Attached below is the tutoring schedule for the sixth grade teachers.


Monday is a student holiday. Enjoy your long weekend.


All 6th graders should be reading a book either through iLit, Destiny, or our physical library.

Pre-AP Science ~ Mrs. Sanchez and Ms. Marek


Hello! We are moving along with our SSEP group projects. We are going to need our tri-fold boards this week so if you are still thinking about donating a board or two, please do! I would suggest asking your student what experiment they are proposing to test in microgravity. Reminder: Space Night is REQUIRED for every 6th grade science student.

STEAM Science ~ Mrs. Sanchez and Ms. Hernandez

Hello! We are moving along with our SSEP group projects. I would suggest asking your student what experiment they are proposing to test in microgravity. This next week we will continue with experimental design with the “fastest fizzer” lab to help with our experimental design within SSEP. Reminder: Space Night is REQUIRED for every 6th grade science student.

Accelerated Science ~ Mrs. Irons

We will be continuing our study of atomic structure and the Periodic Table. I will be out of the classroom Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of this week and your students should be well prepared for my absence.


Monday: Student Holiday

Wednesday: History of Atoms, Atomic Structure Practice

Pre-AP Math ~ Mrs. Justice, Ms. Gregg and Ms. Parker

This week we will finishing our Integer Operations Unit. Students will have their Unit 2 test on Friday, October 13th. The test will cover addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of integers (positive and negative numbers).


The final product for Unit 2 is due on Monday, October 16th. Students have been given time in class to work on the project throughout the unit, but they might need to make finishing touches on the project prior to the Monday due date.

This week will be continuing our Geometry Unit by learning about surface area and volume of 3-dimensional figures. Students will receive Clues #3 and #4 this week for their Zombie cure.

Humanities ~ Mrs. Moore, Ms. Lindamood, Mrs. Strother and Ms. Peden

Students will continue to explore North American Geography and prepare for a test on Monday, October 16. Students are also continuing their work in Close Reading Workshop by analyzing plot and theme in fiction. The first test on plot will be Wednesday, October 18.

Global Business and Professional Communication ~ Ms. Tedford and Ms. Owen

This week Mrs. Owen will be out for a conference on Tuesday and Wednesday. We will be continuing to collect research on an influential person and using our research to begin creating Google Slides presentations. Students have chosen to research people like Michael Jordan, Steph Curry, Albert Einstein, Milton Hershey, and many others who have demonstrated perseverance and grit! Ask your student who they are researching- they will have all kinds of fun facts to share!

Art ~ Mrs. Beam


This week we will be continuing our contour line unit. Students will take their self portrait line drawings and create a wire relief piece.


Beginning Band ~ Mr. Sypert

Please make sure your students are practicing 10-20 minutes a night, and completing all video assignments throughout the week. Our fundraiser was a great success, we far exceeded our goal! Thank you so much for all of the support!
