Celebration of Black History Month

We celebrated by watching videos throughout the month of heros from the black community. We also had rolling slides on the screen in the Student Commons of famous Black people.

Here is a link to my website where the videos and slides are posted on each grade level since this was a school wide celebration:

Keep Calm and Carry On Group Sessions

Keep Calm and Carry On is a small group of 9th and 10th grade students who met together with Rachel Cox, our School Counseling intern, for three sessions and worked through topics such as stress and anxiety prevalence and management. They spent time realizing and processing the amount of stress in their lives and learning healthy ways to cope with that stress. By learning these things, their socio-emotional well-being will be enhanced, leading to better outcomes in academic and social areas as well.

8th grade ERA high school information sessions

We held information sessions about high school courses and curriculum for current 8th grade students:

January 9th--Information session for The Expedition School students and parents

February 19th--Information session for current ERA students and parents

8th grade course selections and teacher review

I was able to meet with all the 8th grade Eno River Academy classes during the day on Friday, March 8th. Students who had already turned in a course request form were able to review their form and ask any additional questions they may have. Students who had not completed a form yet were able to make selections.

The student course selections were sent to their 8th grade teachers to review and make sure each student is choosing the appropriate course for their success.

Individual meetings with all 9th, 10th and 11th grade Eno River Academy students

I am currently working on meeting with all of our students to discuss courses for next year. These meetings will continue into Quarter 4. Once I have met with them, I will share their selections with their teachers. If teachers have any concerns about the student selection, they will let us know so we can discuss further with the student and parent. We want each student to be placed in courses needed to graduate and at the level they need for success and reach their goals.

Thanks so much to Gayane Chambless and April Richard for a very informative presentation on Keeping Your Kids Safe!!!
