The peer coaches will be leading lessons with other students. Way to go JMMS!

ENGINEERING AND MUSIC PATHWAYS FOR ELEMENTARY STUDENTS

In January, we will be launching the "Wheel Of Experts" program. This pilot program will provide 12 consecutive weeks of music and computer science/coding instruction to our fifth grade students at AES and BOES. Students will learn how to play the recorder and the keyboard. In addition, students will also be introduced to the elements of coding. We are excited about these new and innovative ways to increase learning opportunities for our students and create a pathway to our middle school programs.

AUSD STUDENT MOVIE NIGHT

We are excited to launch our first ALL DISTRICT Movie Night. Don't miss this opportunity to drop your children off in a safe place while you do some holiday shopping. The Superintendent, Principals and other staff will be on hand to supervise children during our Districtwide Movie Night event. Pizza and water will be served during the movie so plan on dropping off your kiddos with a blanket and a pillow. Lights snacks will also be sold by the JMMS ASB.

NOTES FROM THE PTA/PTSA

Boulder Oaks’ students, families and PTA have been celebrating the season of giving and have been promoting this within our community and abroad. In September, they collected food and raised $950.00 for the students at Burnett Elementary School in Houston, Texas that were deeply impacted by Hurricane Harvey. In addition, our students wrote personal letters to the students at Burnett expressing their well wishes. This past Veterans Day, our students showed their appreciation to our veterans and active military members by sending numerous letters along with almost 300 pounds of Halloween candy to our troops overseas. We also hosted our 3rd Annual Bring a Veteran to Lunch where our students invited military family and friends to join them for lunch. In November and December, our students and families have many opportunities to give back to our community. They are collecting non-perishable food items for the San Diego Food Bank, requesting donations to Goodwill, and are also participating in annual “Giving Tree” program that helps bring some extra joy to families in need during the holiday season. Our families are able to pick an ornament off of the “Giving Tree” in the school office and donate various gift cards to several families in the Alpine School District.

At Boulder Oaks, we recognize the importance of teaching our students to help those in need and we are thankful for our staff and families who provide our students with these meaningful opportunities.

Creekside Early Learning Center PTA just hosted our annual Turkey Trot. This year the students were trotting for technology. The PTA is so pleased to announce that we raised $8,121! With the money raised, we are able to purchase new Chromebooks for each classroom. The CELC PTA can’t thank our Creekside Cubs and their families enough for their overwhelming support!

There’s a lot going on this month at Alpine Elementary! Our Holiday Shop starts on Monday, December 4th and finishes up on the 19th. Twelve days of shopping! There’s lots a cute stuff and everyone is welcome to attend. Holiday Shop hours are before school, lunchtime, and after school. It’s located in our NEW PTSA room 20. Our annual Ice Skating with the Principal and Dinner at Rubio’s is on Thursday, December 14th, from 5-7pm. Tickets are only $10. This month’s Minimum Day Movie is Cars 3. Also, on the Minimum Day be sure to go to this month’s Districtwide Dinner Location, the Greek Village. Come eat dinner and support the AUSD schools. Janet’s Montana Cafe Pie Sales have been extended to the Wednesday, December 20th. Just $16 a pie and a portion goes towards funding our Sustainable Garden at AES. The next AES PTSA meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 12th at 3:30 in the teacher’s lounge. Oh and don’t forget the Annual Alpine Parade of Lights on Friday, December 1st where all students are invited to walk along our floats.
