Mrs. Menta's Message

Welcome Back Craddock Families!

It has been an absolutely fantastic first three days at Craddock and we owe a huge THANKS to our staff, the students and YOU for making that happen. It takes time to learn routines and build comfort and relationships, but those are happening quickly and I could not be more proud of our 1st and 2nd grade friends. Their teachers are working non-stop to help them grow comfort in the school day and new routines! They have already shown an amazing amount of resilience in these first few days! I have a feeling the staff and the students will sleep well tonight. I know I will!

Thank you for your patience as we get our dismissal processes smoothed out. It takes about 2-3 weeks for that to fully happen. If you drop and/or pick up your child at school, please take time to read the reminders below. You will help our line move much more quickly and keep our kids safe at all times if you are knowledgeable of what we are asking. Thank you! Everything will quicken in time, as we know these are new routines for many of you and your child.

Please be reminded that Friday, 8/26 and Monday, 8/29 are our Autumn Assessment Days. These are critical days for our staff to complete many of the fall benchmarking assessments with the students one on one. We gain an incredible amount of information about them all as learners to help guide our instruction and intervention. To help us do this, we ask students to attend only on certain days. Please follow the schedule below...

  • Students whose last names begin with the letters A-L attend on Friday, 8/26 and NOT on 8/29.
  • Students whose last names begin with the letters M-Z attend on Monday, 8/29 and NOT on 8/26.

Thank you for being flexible and allowing us to do all that's needed on these critical days.

Once again, welcome back and thank you for sharing your amazing kids with us! The staff and I feel incredibly lucky each and every day to get to work alongside these wonderful kiddos. Enjoy the weekend ahead and know we can't wait to welcome everyone back on Monday!

Take care and reach out with any questions or concerns!

Sincerely,

Kim Menta

Car Rider Protocol - IMPORTANT!

Many thanks for your patience as we get things up and running. It will take us a few weeks to run at optimal speed. We will work daily to fix, modify and adapt things to be as efficient as possible. Your patience is greatly appreciated by all our staff.

Students can be dropped off at 8:40 a.m. at the earliest! Please do not allow them to exit your car until that time, as there is no staff to monitor them. Pick up will begin promptly at 3:10 each day. If everyone knows the system and cooperates, we will have all students in cars in 15-20 minutes.

Here are some things I need all car rider families to do, which will help immensely.

  • Please do not use Willard to line up for drop off or pick up. We are working with the police to get it blocked off, but in the meantime, please avoid it. Enter Hurd Road off of New Hudson and begin lining up there. Please see the map below for guidance.
  • Parents are not permitted to get out of their car when dropping off or picking up their child(ren). It is one of the main reasons the flow of traffic slows down. If you need to do that, you must pull into a marked parking spot. Again, we ask you don't do it at all. We have plenty of staff available to help your child in or out safely.
  • All students must exit their car on the passenger side of the vehicle. We understand this can be tricky with child locks and car seats, but it is in the best interest of all our car riders to have it be this way. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
  • We are not permitting people to turn left into the school from Hurd Road. You will be asked to continue down Hurd, turn around and join the end of the line.
  • We ask that you please respect the guidelines we have set up and follow them consistently. Everyone involved in the car rider process, staff and parents, thank you!

Craddock Transportation Request 22-23

If at any time, you wish to change your child's mode of transportation for one or more days, you must fill out the Google form attached. We are no longer able to accept notes, phone calls and/or emails to do this, outside of emergencies. Thank you!

Car Rider Tags Needed for Student Pick Up

If you plan to pick up your child this year in our car rider line on a consistent basis, you will need a car rider tag to do so. The tag will be displayed on your rearview mirror each day. These will be available in the hallway by our gym and cafeteria during our Meet and Greet and there is no cost. If you aren't able to get one then, we will get one to you throughout the first few weeks of school as you line up in the car rider line.

Please make sure to review the car rider protocol listed below. In order to keep our kids safe and move the line as efficiently as we can, everyone needs to understand our process. Thank you in advance!!!

A Message from Our School Counselor, Mrs. Ambrosia!

Hello Craddock! I am honored to be your child’s school counselor for the 2022-2023 school year. I am available to support students, families and staff with any social-emotional, academic and believe it or not- career exploration which at Craddock may be focusing on student strengths! There is no question too small to contact me about. I encourage and welcome open-communication as we all have the same goal: school success for your students!

During the school day, I will provide individual counseling, small group counseling and classroom guidance lessons. Initially, I will ensure that all students transition from summer break to their school day with ease. My first visit to classrooms will allow the students to become more familiar with me and explain how I can help them during the day.

The 2022-2023 school year will be my eighteenth year in education. I have spent the previous years working as a classroom teacher, middle school counselor and an elementary school counselor. Helping students is what I love to do!

When I am not at school, you can usually find me at a sporting event for one of my three children: Dominic (11), Daniel (9) and Elle (9). We live around the corner in Hudson with my husband, Brian and miniature goldendoodle, Louie. If there is anything you need, I am here to help! Please reach out via email to lambrosia@aurora-schools.org or 330.562.3175, extension 1260.

School Nurse and Medication at School

We are so lucky to have Mrs. Dana Courtad as Craddock's school nurse. She is incredibly knowledgeable and always able to help a scraped knee, lost tooth, hurt belly and so much more! She is in the building whenever students are five days a week and we are grateful!

If your child needs to take medication at school, please fill out the forms shown below and bring the medication to Craddock. Your child is not permitted to carry the medication in him/herself. An adult must transport it.

If you have any questions at all, please call our main office at 330-562-3175.
