How did the Jenolan caves, Uluru and the Blue mountains form
Jenolan caves
Jenolan caves are made from limestone that dissolved from carbon dioxide and organic acids.how limestone dissolves depends on the solubility of the rock, mechanical strength of the rock and the restriction of the solution to structurally controlled zones. Much cave development occurs just below the water table. This type of development is called epiphreatic. Water just below the water table often moves rapidly.
Uluru
Uluru was formed 300 million years ago when sand piled up on the bottom of an inland sea that once covered the middle of Australia at Bass Straight. Over the years the wind and rain have beaten against the rock weathering it.
Blue mountain
Archaeological studies indicate that the Blue Mountains were formed around one million years ago as part of the Kosciusko Uplift during the Pliocene Epoch. Pressure from the east raised the area upwards in a monoclinal fold, reaching an elevation of around three thousand feet to the top of the Blue Mountains where Mount Victoria is today.
