TBEMC Religious School Update
October 11th, 2023
Principal's Corner
There is religious school this Sunday for all students including Gan Katan.
Like many of you the past few days have been incredibly difficult. Hearing the news from Israel, knowing that American Jews are an extension of Israel has been an emotional rollercoaster. At times like these it can be difficult to know what to say. The truth is there are simply no words that can comfort us. I encourage you to do a few things this weekend to show your support for the people of Israel.
- Join TBEMC for services on Saturday morning. When there are no words, being together as a community can help us find the right path.
- Send your child with a dollar or more for the Ice Pop Sale this Sunday after school. All proceeds from the Ice Pops will go towards supporting the current needs of civilians in Israel. The 7th grade class and I will be working with Federation and our Rishon to determine the best organization to support.
- Finally, while we know it may be difficult, we are highly encouraging you to monitor and/or limit your child’s access to social media at this time as there are concerns that Hamas will be using TikTok, Instagram, and X (formerly known as Twitter) to release graphic pictures and videos of those abducted.
Family B-Mitzvah Session for Grades 6&7
The first B-mitzvah session for the year is on October 15th. Parents should plan to attend religious school from 9:00 - 10:30 with your child. Breakfast and coffee will be provided.
Torah Cartooning - Sunday, October 15th,
Our first workshop this year is Torah Cartooning with Andrew Galitzer, parents are invited to attend during your child's session. For more information about the timing of your child's session please see below.
- K-2 - 9:15 am
- 3-5 - 10:00 am

Service Attendance
Please let me know if you feel your child's service attendance on the chart in the religious school wing is incorrect. I was unable to attend during Yom Kippur so there could certainly be some errors. Please e-mail me with any corrections, or if you attended services at a different synagogue.
Grant Information
As you are aware, our Religious School has received approximately a $9,600 grant for special programming this school year from the Federation of Greater MetroWest Jewish Community Foundation. As a part of this grant we are required to have all parents and age eligible students complete the survey found here, prior to any programming.
Make sure to look at the photos from from this week below. I look forward to seeing everyone for Simchat Torah!
