Semester 2: New Beginnings
Cicely Tyson once said, "I am not a quitter. I will fight until I drop. It is just a matter of having some faith in the fact that as long as you are able to draw breath in the universe, you have a chance." This quote speaks to the essence of what it means to be an Emery Spartan because no matter the obstacles that we face, we pick ourselves up and dust our shoulders off ready to win! As you begin the second semester, you have a chance to start anew as well as build upon your academic and social emotional success. If you made mistakes in the first semester of school, then you learn from them and become wiser with a new opportunity to apply that knowledge as only a Spartan is able to do. Show up on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and every class period ready to participate. Did you know that missing 10% of school or 18 days can knock you off track of your academic goals? Utilize all the resources that are available to you to achieve your learning goals (tutor.com, teacher office hours on Wednesdays as well as before and after school, counseling support, and join clubs or the Associated Student Body for social support too). Remember to be a self advocate for what you need or reach out to a mentor (EHS teachers, Ms. Duana, Ms. Bianca, Mr. McIntosh, your sports coaches, and your principal) for guidance and encouragement. Starting today, set new goals (daily, weekly, and monthly) for the second semester. Finally remember this quote by an anonymous author as you journey into the second half of the school year, "Every second brings a fresh beginning; Every hour holds a new promise; Every night our dreams can bring hope and; Every day is what you choose to make it."
Be Positive. Be Purposeful. Be Productive. Be a Spartan Graduate. #SpartanStrong
