From the Principal's Desk
After we return from spring break, the remainder of the year fills up quickly! In April we will have our final Title I event, a school wide field trip to the Performing Arts Center, the 5th grade field trip, along with end of the year testing. On Wednesdays after school Mrs. Fisher will have an outdoor club and she is doing choir during the day.
As always, thank you for sharing your child(ren) with us and know my door is always open!

Vision Statement
"Accepting Individuals,
Growing Together,
Empowering All."
Our Trauma Sensitive Team has been attending training's, webinars and coaching calls on how to best meet the needs of students and families who have experienced various traumatic events or circumstances. One of the team's tasks is to develop a vision statement that tells the community what we are all about at Sutton Elementary. The team came up with this statement, the staff voted on it. Students were then taught its meaning and asked if they felt it was an accurate representation of our school community and signed a poster!

Mrs. Fisher's News
Hello Sutton Families,
The month of February flew by and spring is just around the corner. We are all looking forward to the days getting warmer and the daylight continuing to return.
Our specials schedule remains the same, physical education, will be Monday and Thursday and music is Tuesday and Friday, with our library day still being on Wednesday.
In P.E. we had a great time participating in fun Valentine’s games and activities and we celebrated “Read Across America” week with a variety of fun Dr. Seuss stations. All of these activities aligned nicely with several of our physical education standards. We also spent the month learning about heart health and the many different ways to keep our hearts healthy and happy. When you have time, ask your kids “what snacks and activities make their hearts happy and healthy?”
I’m excited that some of the children and staff participated in our Healthy Futures Challenge. I’m looking forward to even more participation this month as the weather continues to get warmer. The Healthy Futures program and (Play Every Day) further builds on the importance of regular physical activity. Remind your children to fill out their PINK Healthy Futures log every day! (This was sent home last Thursday)
At the end of the month our school will be participating in the Shape-Up for Break-up which is a Statewide activity to support Physical Education in our schools. During this event schools from across the state will participate in a school wide activity with their friends and family. More information will follow after Spring Break.
Thank you again for reminding your children to wear their P.E. shoes each day.
In Music, we have been working on rhythm and the children have been composing and creating their own rhythms both individually and cooperatively with other students in their class. We continue to work on seasonal and spring concert music. With St. Patrick’s Day being this month, we will be listening to some Celtic music and your children will have an opportunity to participate in some Irish dancing. We will continue to learn about a variety of composers, musical styles and musical cultures for the remainder of the year.
I’m excited to share that we will be starting choir this week! We will have choir practice from 11:50-12:20 on Wednesdays (2nd-5th) and Thursdays (K-5th) each week until the beginning of May.
Thank you again for your support and always encouraging your children to try their best in music. I appreciate it!
As mentioned before Library is still scheduled for every Wednesday. Thank you again for helping your children be diligent in returning their library books on-time and in good condition.
Enjoy Spring Break with your families remember to get out and “Play Every Day” and we will see you all on the 19th!
Mrs. Fisher :)
