Panther Post
May 21st - May 27th
Hello Lopez Families,
In case you missed it, the Lopez band performed at the Tobin this week and was so impressive. The acoustics in the place was outstanding and our band took advantage of it, playing like pros. I was glad I got to see them live! (Picture Below).
On Wednesday we had the 5th graders come over for tours. It was great to see all the new faces we will be getting soon. We also got to see a lot of parents come over for the Brunch and Learn. They asked great questions and I can't wait for them to be a part of the Lopez family.
One really big thing...every year, we compete for the Middle School Cup, which is a total of points earned from athletic, academic and fine arts competitions. This year we won again by beating the next best school by 31 points. Thank you to all of the staff involved in those events, all of the other staff and their support, and all of the parents who have been there for them. And most of all, congratulations to the kids! (picture below with some students who helped earn points toward the cup)
Have a great week!
Sincerely,
Mr. Wernli

PICK UP ALL MEDICATIONS
All student medications should be picked up by June 1. This includes all inhalers, Epipens, bottles of Advil, Tylenol, Benadryl, keychain medications, and any over the counter drugs. These medicines will be disposed of if not picked up, as the school won’t be air-conditioned when closed over the summer. If you cannot pick up medication by June 1, please call the school nurse at 210-356-5003 to make other arrangements.
Update Physician Orders
Orders for medications, including inhalers, Epipens, insulin, and all oral medications, should be updated over the summer. Medication forms are being mailed out to all students who currently have medicine in the clinic. Please schedule appointments over the summer so that you will not run out of time to have physicians to complete these medication requests. These forms are also available for downloading at http://www.neisd.net.

Box Tops
Dear Lopez Families,
We are quickly nearing the end of the 2016-2017 school year! As we ready ourselves for summer break, it’s a great time to start an envelope in order to collect those Box Tops over the summer!! My name is Melanie Striffler and I’m excited to once again be our school’s Box Tops for Education™ Coordinator for next year.
Clipping Box Tops is an easy way to help earn cash for our school. Each one is worth 10¢ for our school! Just look for the pink Box Tops on hundreds of products. All you have to do is clip them and send them to school.
Last school year, we earned $200 for our school from Box Tops, and used the money to clean and refurbish our mascot, Prowler. This next school year, our goal is to earn $500.
For more information on Box Tops, including a list of participating products, go to BTFE.com. Be sure to sign up as a member (it’s free!) so you can check out our school’s earnings details and get access to coupons and bonus offers.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I’m here to help make our school’s Box Tops for Education™ program a huge success this year.
Thanks for your help!
