Preventing Falls for Children

  • Over 46,000 children died last year from falling.

  • falls are the 12th leadinf cause of death for 5-9 years olds and 15-19 years olds.

  • 66% of falls among children occur from a height and 8% occur form the the same height

  • falls are the biggest leading cause of brain injury


  • Never leave a baby alone on a bed, changing table, furniture, ect.
  • Make sure your stairs are safe
  • Safety gates!
  • Try to prevent access to outlets, extension cords, and ladders
  • Keep windows out of reach
  • Avoid slippery surfaces
  • Use night lights
