Caring Cubs Weekly Update

Sept 19, 2016

This Week:

Hope you have had a wonderful weekend. We survived last week's full moon Friday! It sure was a busy one.

This week we will be having our first committee meetings on Wed. right after school. Committee chairs please let your team members know your agenda for our first meetings. I emailed each committee their members based on the sign up sheet your grade level worked on. It is the expectation that each certified staff member be a part of one of our large committees. Thanks for making sure you each do your part.

This week Sam Hardesty-Knoll will be at collaborations on Tues. the 20th. Please try to arrange your collaboration times to accommodate her this week. Thanks.

Our Walk-A-Thon kickoff assembly will be on Wed at 8:30 in our K-2 gym. We are trying to schedule our assembly times at various times through the year so we do not miss the same specials or times in the school day. This will be short only about 15 min. Thanks for making your way to the gym by 8:30.

We are still going through the donation boxes from Target. It would be wonderful if you could have your students write thank you notes to Target customer service. I would love to take them over to Target on Fri this week.

Have a great week! Enjoy the first day of Fall on Thurs.

E is for ELASTIC

Let's stretch our thinking and empower students to become creators and not just consumers of information. Can they design it, write it, draw it, sculpt it, build it, tweet it, blog it, post it, rap it, sing it, video it or act it out? Be flexible enough to allow student choice and student voice.

Showing our True Colors- Quote of the Week

A student told me my fingernails were too long so I need to cut them.

I got invited to go on a field trip with a Kindergarten student. "We are going to the science center in 30 to 40 years!"

I had a student clean up a mess he had made. Prior to cleaning he cried and said, I don't know how to clean up anything. I told him it was a good thing I did know how to clean and would be quite happy to teach him!
