important information about the 2022-23 school year
Dear Parents and Students,
It is hard to believe that we are just a few weeks away from the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year. We hope you’ve had a restful and relaxing summer break so far. We are excited about the upcoming school year and the many opportunities we will have to engage our students in LEADing at Moore Middle School! Additional details about the upcoming year will be provided soon. In the meantime, please review the important information below to help you prepare for the school year.
School to Home Communication
School to Home Communication
Please note that you may be missing critical information from our school and the district if you have not updated your contact information. Parents will not receive information in the following areas if the respective records are not up to date:
- Weekly School Newsletter sent to the email address listed in our student information system
- Report Cards, letters, and other information sent to the mailing address listed in our student information system
- Notifications from the district (text and call) sent to the phone number listed in our student information system (please note that the local schools do not have the ability to send texts and robocalls to parents)
We are sending out our first official Parent Newsletter for the 2022-2023 School Year on Thursday, July 14th. Parents will receive this communication via email on the 14th. It is critical that all families have accurate contact information (mailing address, email address, and phone numbers) in order to stay informed and up to date regarding what is happening at Moore Middle School and within GCPS. If you do not receive the Parent Newsletter by email on the 14th, it is likely that we do not have accurate contact information for you and that you will need to update your information as soon as possible. Please contact the school at 678-226-7100 for more information on updating your records.
GCPS 1:1 TECHNOLOGY INITIATIVE
Students will receive a Chromebook that will be used for instructional purposes at school and at home for the school year. Please note that the Chromebook will be checked out to each student in a similar manner to books checked out of the media center. Students are expected to bring their Chromebook to school each day and to keep the device in good condition. Chromebooks will be issued during Open House. There will be additional details about the 1:1 Technology Initiative coming soon.
FREE/REDUCED LUNCH APPLICATION
There have been significant changes to the cost of lunch for the 2022-2023 school year. Lunch will no longer be free for all students as it was last school year. Students will be required to pay the full cost of lunch $2.50. A new lunch application must be completed this summer in order for students to qualify for free or reduced cost lunch. The 2022-23 Free and Reduced applications opens after July 15, 2022. Please see the flyer linked below and mark your calendars for this important date!
