Week Five - September 7 - 11, 2020

Big picture

Welcome to Week Five!

Hello Brahma Parents & Guardians,

Hope you had a nice three-day weekend and were able to stay cool in the record setting heat!

Recently, our State adopted a new “Blue Print for a Safer Economy” establishing a color-coded guide by county to determine allowable activities. In this tiered system, our color (Purple) does not allow schools to open. While our campus remains closed, you may hear about other schools reopening. We will be closely monitoring other Districts which have been authorized to reopen to improve our reopening plans. Please click HERE to monitor our County’s progress.

This week we are kicking-off our Wellness Wednesday activity in addition to many other Social Emotional Learning (SEL) resources mentioned below. Scroll down for more information on how to stay connected.

Best Regards,

Reuben Jones

*New! Wellness Wednesdays

Wellness Wednesdays will take place during tutorial time each week. Through videos and/or live sessions our Wellness Team (Peer Counselors, Wellness Interns, GLCs, School Psychologists, SEL Teacher Team, USB) will provide tools, resources, and strategies for SEL.

We care about our students and their feelings. We want to connect with them and also provide opportunities to connect with other students. Students will find Wellness Wednesday information via Grade Level Google Classroom, Instagram (DBHS_events; dbhswellness) and the DBHS main webpage under Reminders.

This Week is National Suicide Prevention Week

Brahmas, during this week of National Suicide Prevention Week, we are reaching out because you matter and to let you know that we are here for you. We also want to remind you that you are our "eyes and ears" and to continue to reach out to us (your GLC) if you are concerned about someone.

The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (1-800-273-8255) is promoting #BeThe1To as their message for National Suicide Prevention Month and beyond in order to spread the word about actions we can all take to prevent suicide.

Here are some stories of hope:
