Homeostasis
And the Digestive System
Fun Facts about Homeostasis and the Digestive System
Homeostasis is to maintain and restore certain steady states or conditions of the organism. For example the human body keeps the temperature at F 98.6.
The digestive system is responsible for the processing and uptake of nutrition. It also breaks down. Digestion begins in the mouth with the help of the teeth and then down the esophagus to the stomach. Then the nutrients are absorbed in the small intestine and the waste is removed in the large intestine.
Fun Facts about Homeostasis and the Digestive System
Circulatory System
The systems in the body work together. The circulatory system works with the lungs and helps oxygen travel through the body. The circulatory system includes the heart, blood vessels and blood, and is vital for fighting diseases and maintaining homeostasis (proper temperature and pH balance). Did you know the circulatory system is 60,00 miles long with all the arteries, veins, and capillaries laid out.
Respiratory System
All the systems in the body work together. Oxygen enters the body through the respiratory system. When you inhale, the respiratory system works with the circulatory system and transports oxygen to all cells in the body. Humans require oxygen to survive. Your lungs take in oxygen and release carbon dioxide.
Skeletal System
Homeostasis needs energy from inside the body. The body gets most of its energy from carbohydrates. Lipids and proteins also provide energy. The skeletal system provides support, movement, protection, endocrine regulation, and calcium storage. The digestive system, the circulatory system, and the muscular system work together and process and obtain nutrients from food with the skeletal system. The skeletal system, the endocrine system, and the lymphatic system also work with the digestive system and process those nutrients.
The Foods We Eat
Personal taste, family preferences, cultural influences, emotional reasons, health concerns, societal pressures, convenience, and cost all come into play when we choose what to eat. Sometimes junk food can come in and be unhealthy to people. There are fats that clog up the arteries. As a result blood can't pass through and a heart attack occurs.
