Eagles Earn Two Top UIL Film Awards

This week the UIL announced the 2022 film championships in Austin. The Eagles earned two top-five awards at the event. Sloan Dial won fourth place for her film "Breaking Barriers." Nick West earned fifth place for his film "Capturing History." Be sure to check out these award-winning films which are linked below.

"I'm just so proud of the work that these students put in," AHS teacher Stacy Short said. "There were nearly 600 films this year, and to be in the state finals is absolutely phenomenal. As we watched all of the final films, it occurred to me that we are seeing the visionary talent and creativity of our future leaders. To be part of that history and vision is truly inspiring."

Argyle ISD Schools OPEN Feb. 25

Argyle ISD schools and offices will be OPEN on regular schedules for Friday, Feb. 25. All buses will operate on their regular route schedules.

District officials have driven the roads extensively today and they were not found to be hazardous. The maintenance department is also in the process of treating icy areas on campus entries, parking areas and sidewalks.

Please continue to exercise caution while driving roadways and over bridges during your morning commute. We also ask that students be cautious entering the campuses and in parking lot areas.

Also, Argyle ISD will now hold classes on Thursday, April 14. This was one of two designated bad weather days built into the school calendar. Due to closing school for inclement weather on Thursday, this day will now be utilized.

Great Experience! Guest Speakers Visit West, Hilltop Students

Last week, Corgan architects, Keith Cummins and Maria Barragan, visited Argyle West as special guests to speak to fourth-grade Horizon students who are currently studying architecture.

Hilltop Elementary fourth-graders joined the West students for the event. These fourth-grade students are studying all aspects of architecture including history, famous architects, engineering, principle of design, golden ratio, and more! The real-world experience that Mr. Cummins and Ms. Barragan shared was so valuable to our fourth-grade architects!

In January, AISD Board Trustee Dr. Leona McDade came to speak to West third grade Horizon students about her role on the town's planning and zoning committee. Our third graders are studying city planning and all it entails in order to create their own utopian city. The students were so excited to see the actual maps used by the town for planning. We are so thankful for the expertise and experiences Dr. McDade shared and it provided these students with an authentic application to their learning.
